Excerpt: Not as good as the Bose in noise reduction but has better sound quality. It's nice to finally hear a movie at normal volume without noise on the plane. Talk through and bypass are must-have features.

Conclusion: I purchased these to replace an old pair of Sennheiser NR phones I've had for about 15 years. While I liked my old ones these are far better both in design and operation. The battery is internal, the ear cups swivel 90 degrees for storage, they come with a case (a very nice case) and the cord is detachable. Those are all changes for the better, but the fact that these leave the Bose in the dust is the real reason to buy them. They are only the best!
Excerpt: I don't have much experience with noise canceling headphones, but after quite a bit of research I settled on these (it came down to Bose and Sennheiser). For a casual listener, these are amazing headphones. Their maiden voyage was a flight from Seattle to New York and now I can't imagine taking a trip without them. I can't say much about how the noise canceling compares to other brands, but the difference between having them on and off was night and day.

Conclusion: Sennheiser quality sound comes through with and without noise cancellation on. The Talk-Through button is useful when you need to speak to flight attendants. Comfortable to wear and the volume control is convenient. Noise cancellation is at 80% which may not cut out all airline noise but definitely worthwhile.
Excerpt: Difficult to find true audiophile headphones these days. Newer ones tend to cater for gaming to hiphop with boosted levels. Great noise cancelling, no noise leakage and no wireless static. Very happy with purchase!
Conclusion: I have used these in train trips with great satisfaction. Above all, comfortable to wear for long period of time (4 Hrs +), gone is the "ear fatigue" I used to have with my previous (not as expensive) headphones. Sound superb too. Good value considering the built and sound quality you get.
Summary: Just an all around outstanding product and definitely worth the investment if you are a serious music listener. I purchased these to replace a broken pair of another brand headphones that I use on my digital keyboard. I've had the keyboard for many years but hooking it up to these headphones was like getting a whole new keyboard. The sound reproduction is outstanding, providing a clear warm sound.
Summary: Keep in mind I am hearing impaired. These headphones are amazing. The comfort of the ear cushions is unbelievable, I can finally listen for long periods without any discomfort. As for the sound, it's incredible and clear. Noise canceling is superb ( but I am hearing impaired so it is possible I wouldn't hear some outside sounds as it is) Coolness factor? I think they're really cool looking. Then again, I'm 44 so my kind of cool could be outdated.
Pros: Excellent sound quality, durability, and noise cancellation. Comfort.
Cons: I always forget to turn them off when done so I finally got smart and started using rechargeables
Excerpt: Sennheiser is 100% on target with the PXC 450 cans! Noise cancel is excellent and the talk thru feature is VERY useful. In use in a noisy workout gym or on the red eye from CA I found these headphones deliver excellent noise cancellation WITH exceptional music reproduction. I tested them with hi res files at 192/24 using a tube based headphone amp and they compare favorably to the top of the line Sennheiser 800s'. I tried two BOSE models..
Pros: Comfortable, Compact, Durable, Good Bass, Good Value, Great Sound, Lightweight
Summary: Let's face. They aren't cool. My coworker says that they make me look like a space alien. At least, I assume she means the headphones. But they are amazing phones. I have tried top of the line Bose and Sony. This one beats them. First of all, the passive pass-through. Battery down? No problem, you still get sound. And what lovely, clear, natural sound. I have found I don't even need the NR on at all, ever (well, on the subway or train). The sound isolation is that good.
Pros: Hands down best isolation ,best versatility, best sound.
Cons: Bulky. Sorry, you are not cool wearing these things.
