Summary: My previous headset was a Bose QC 2 and wanted to try a full ear cover noise canceling headset. The Sennheiser PXC 450 received enough good reviews for me to give them a try. Upon receiving them, the first thing that I noticed was a persistent low frequency rumble. And over time it has become more persistent, especially on airplane flights when it seems that it magnifies the low frequency noises (especially landing gear noises, flap extension/retraction).
Summary: One of the only things I own that still uses crappy, environmentally unfriendly disposable batteries (more on that later). Big, bulky and maxes out at a fairly low volume if you like your music loud (thank you nanny state). Worst of all, if you leave them in a drawer for a few months with the batteries in, be prepared to kiss them (and the money you spent) goodbye. That's what happened to me, but I guess not such a big loss. Save yourself the trouble and buy Klipsch.
Pros: Sound quality very good.
Cons: Bulky. Sound quality zero when the craptastic old school battery feature goes awry.
Summary: I had a horrible experience with these headphones. I listened to them for 10 minutes and was disgusted by how much these cost in comparison with how they sound. My brother has a pair of beats by dre solos, the bottom of the line of over ear headphones for beats by dre, was better and not to mention 150 dollars less. These headphones had no range and I had to turn my ipod all the way up to hear any quality.
Pros: Only good if you listen at extremely low volumes
Cons: Very large, unappealing to the eye, no bass, have to turn ipod all the way up to hear anything, barely any noise isolation.
Excerpt: I just flew on a 8 hour flight. Maybe I'm asking too much, but it is still noisy. It does reduce a lot of the noise but to me it is still loud... & I have hearing loss. I then put in foam earplugs and they reduced more noise than this product does. They are 3 bucks for about 10 of them. In addition they are not comfortable to wear. In an office environment with A/C noise they work great, in a plane they are a huge disappointment.
Pros: For me none
Cons: Poor Value, Too Much Ambient Noise, Uncomfortable
Summary: After searching online reviews I settled on the PXC 450 headphones. Spent extra to express mail these headphones so I would have them on a cross country flight Florida to Seattle in two days. Opened the box tonight and found the headphones do not work - even used new batteries other than the ones included in the kit. Hopefully I can get another set overnight - otherwise all the music in my Iphone not be heard on this trip.
