Excellent for traveling, more portable than over-the-ear

IndependantPatriot, CNET

  • Summary: If you don't want to wear big over-the-ear cans for traveling but want good noise reduction and portability, these are well worth the money.
  • Pros: Portability, small size and collapsable for easy stowage. Great noise cancelling. Many times I just put them on, without any music, to quiet the gate area while waiting to board. Excellent sound quality. Kevlar strands reinforce the cord.
  • Cons: The cord where it meets the plug connection, the outer insulation wears out.

  • Summary: I am a software developer and listen to music all day to keep the surrounding noises down and to concentrate better. Sound, comfort, portability were priority. Even with the On the Ear features, it doesn't just as well as Over the ear egg styles. And actually better than those because these don't push on my glasses against my head. but comfortable that they aren't a big pressure I love these head phones, compact, light.

Great Alternative at a Great Price

Daniele, Crutchfield

  • Summary: I bought my husband (a very frequent traveler) a set of the Bose but bought myself a pair of these since I travel about half as much as he does. These are great. Very lightweight and compact. They reduce the noise very well. These are smaller and fit on my ear so after very long flights (8+ hours), if I sleep with them, my ears get a little sore but I think it is beacuse I am laying on them. Yes, Bose are better but these work very well and are a good deal (price-wise).

  • Summary: I found these on sale at the local Office Depot , they only cost me 200 pesos (15 Dlls) , they do sound nice but unfortuanely since they have a 300 ohms impedance they dont produce much volume with PMPS, when you switch the cancellation on it does improve sound and Raises the volume level, The battery pack is huge and always gets in the way , but i would give them a 7.5 out of 10 because they do sound and look good (i am only giving it 3.5 in design because of the...
  • Pros: Good SQ , dont even feel the headphones in your head
  • Cons: Battery pack is huge and gets in the way, 300 ohms impedance

Sennheiser PXC 250 Active Noise Canceling Headphones

bhm, Rate it all!
13 August 2008
  • Summary: Prior to this headphone I bought a Sennheiser PXC 150 on sale at Sears. What impressed me was the audio quality when listening to an MP3 player. I then compared that headphone with the Bose QC2 & QC3 at a Bose store. The PXC 150 sound, and noise cancelling was about the same as the QC2. The QC3 was much quieter when listening to the Bose airplane sound simulator. Since we were going to Hawaii I decided to get the PXC 250 for my wife, on account of their $25 rebate.

Sennheiser PXC 250 Active Noise Canceling Headphones

  • Summary: The good: The noise canceling tech. is really good. Well, the best one I have. Sometimes, I use them without music to block out street and co-worker's noise. The bad: The folding thing isn't as good as it looks. It's fairly difficult to fold it properly, and doesn't save much spaces. The activate switch is too big and long. It make it harder to be portable and user friendly.

  • Summary: Bought these for a trip from CT to AZ. They make a big difference once the jet engines fire up....wish I'd had them on all my prior flights. They fold up nice and small and stow in their own case. I will purchase over-the-ear style for my next set, though.

excellent value

  • Summary: These are an excellent value for the price, compared to other noise cancelling headphones. There are trade-offs, however. These block out less noise than over the ear versions but are more comfortable. Also, the batter;y compartment is somewhat bulky and clumsy to handle, although the tangle of wires is easily managed if one wraps extra wire around the pocket clip of the battery holder.

  • Summary: Great little product. I must say that I'm a big fan on sennheiser: those are actually my 4th pair. I've got some wireless a very cheap vintage pair and a pretty good 490. I just bought those, and it's the first time I had such a good feeling right after buying a pair of cans. No break-in needed at all. It's probably because of the very small and lightweight membrane used in them. I bought those because I listen to more and more podcast on my daily commute (go TWiT!
