higher rated than I would think

  • Summary: I was bought with reviews on this product. I wanted to have open headphones for work so I would hear what's going on around me but still having a good music reproduction from streaming audio. Their advantage is quite clear, good thembre high frequences. Medium's are highly reduced. Bass is non existent. Is that because of they are light weight headphones and it's design does not assume bigger drivers or anything else - i don't know.
  • Pros: Comfortable, Compact, Durable, Lightweight

  • Summary: Well balanced sound, slightly exaggerated bass makes for a nice warm listen. Reasonably detailed. Highs pretty balanced, but have a few spots with strange dips in the frequency response. Never fatiguing, very portable, comfortable, a good deal for the price.

  • Summary: The PX100s are in the same league sonically as the Koss Portapros, but have a slightly different sound. The PX100s have bass that doesn't get too overbearing, which is good. Highs aren't piercing and extend nicely, and solid mids. The build quality is very good, with pleather material on the headband and a nice sleek design. They are a great value, and offer a slightly warmer-sounding and more balanced alternative to a few other portable phones in the same price range.

  • Summary: A little miracle, for the price. Almost linear, full extended, but the bass, although very quick and tight, is 3 dB over the "ideal line". Very portable (they come with a rigid box for storing safely in your pocket), very comfortable. Mid-highs a little harsh, highs well extended. Mids good, but a little ruined by the mid-highs. All in all, a great inexpensive portable headphone. And they look cool!

Good earpads - Messes up sound quality for PX 100

Amazon Customer "SK", Amazon
9 August 2011
  • Summary: Save your money and get the open foam earpad replacements for PX 100. The sound quality difference is noticeable (more echo) PX100 were meant to be open ear cups not the closed like these are. The other reviewers didn't mention this and I failed to think of it until I bought these as a replacement for the standard ear pads that started falling apart after 4-5 years. If you have the noise canceling version...pxc 250 300? then these should be fine.

  • Summary: I bought these headphones and compared them to other Sennheisers that I have. The bass here wasn't as impressive as on the HD 437, for example.

Worth Considering but a Little Pricey

  • Excerpt: "...invest in a pair of Sennheiser PX 100s for about £35. I was a bit apprehensive about spending this much on them as it was more than any other head/earphones I'd ever bought. However, what really grabbed me was that whereas my previous pair just collapsed at the head band, the PX 100s also have swiveling earpieces, so they really do fold quite flat. They also come with a specially designed carrying case to protect them when not in use, so I ...

"Suited only to overly bright sounding MP3 players and EQ tweakers."

Anonymous, CNET

  • Pros: I borrowed a pair of these for a day. They are cheap, fairly comfortable and you can do much worse at the price - especially if you want to tame an overly bright trebble.
  • Cons: PLEASE NOTE! Buyer beware - the aforementioned lack of trebble detail makes these a poor choice unless your MP3 player sounds too bright in the trebble frequencies. If you don't mind messing around with your MP3 players eq settings, you might be able to find a happy balance, but it will never sound quite right that way. Also, these headphones are not ideal for public transport; they don't leak excessively but they let in a lot of external sounds, meaning you have to w...
