Summary: I primarily bought this for surround sound gaming and the sounds quality is fantastic. They also give you audio files to test the "virtual" surround sound capability, and you can tell which direction the sound is coming from. I say "virtual" since it uses two speakers instead of some headphones having multiple speakers, giving you true directional sound.
Summary: I'm an avid PC gamer, running a two year old iMac. I was looking to make the switch to gaming only on my OSX side (not Win 7 via bootcamp) but was struggling to find a USB headset that was truly supported in OSX and worked well in-game as well over voice chat programs like Vent/Mumble/etc. For reference, I'm a fairly small male, with a small head. The headset is fairly tight on me, so someone with a large head might find them uncomfortable.
Summary: It was a little hard, but I gave this only four stars due to several shortcomings in the product design. Let me start with what I do like. They fit almost perfectly, the microphone produces a clear signal of my voice, the included USB sound device plays an audibly noise free signal and also manages to capture the microphone output acceptably, and the simulated surround sound works as advertised. Now, the reasons I had to dock it a star.
Summary: Continues to support Sennheiser's hold as the top tier of audio. I knew this when I bought the headset, but it has cloth ear pads. I normally wouldn't take a star off for something I consciously knew when I bought it, but this is more in general against Sennheiser because they do not offer anything short of their $250/$300 headsets with (faux) leather ear pads. And no option to replace these with leather. Still, a solid choice for any headset.
Outstanding for movies, but 7.1 is only partly convincing

Summary: OVERALL RATING This is an excellent headset with really great sound quality. A delight to listen to. The virtual 7.1 effect adds to the ambiance and enjoyment of many movies and gaming situations, but in my view is generally not great for music and is definitely poor for simple voice applications.
Summary: These are great headphones and they live up the name Sennheiser as there is no doubt they are high-end and durable. I've used them not only for gaming on the PC but for Skype as well. They're very comfortable, too. I can attest to their durability because I tend to be a klutz and have dropped these multiple times without any ill effect on them.
High quality product that does a decent job of simulating 7.1 effects in games and movies.

Summary: The Sennheiser PC 323D Gaming Headset is a high quality product that does a decent job of simulating 7.1 effects in games and movies. I'm an occasional gamer at best, so I had a long-time gamer friend try them out also, and he gave me some additional feedback for this review. The included USB soundcard was a real bonus as I doubt the existing card on my computer would have been able to operate this device.
Great quality headphones, but 3D sound is kind of a gimmick

Summary: First off, these are a great sounding pair of headphones that have an easy circumaural fit and are quite light on your head. The microphone works great for voice as well based on feedback I got from other end of the communication. The microphone has a cool feature that goes mute when you flip it up in the vertical position and turns itself on when you bring it in front of your mouth. A volume calibrator is built as a large disk rocker on the right ear cup.
Summary: Sennheiser makes good headsets. This one will not compete with the best of them, but will give good quality sound. It's too early for me to tell if it's good for the selling price range. Where this excels is its 7.1 sound. After installing the drivers, I decided to try out a Blu-ray disc to see how good the surround sound was. Initially I was hearing sound from both my speakers and the headset.
