  • Summary: These are basically the same as the MX400 (thus my sound comments from that review apply here), except they are painted blue (which rubs off over time), have a virtually useless inline volume control, and cost about 50% more.

  • Summary: These are pretty good for earphones. They sound natural and neutral with good bass impact. Of course, they can't compete in detail with larger models (Koss KSC75, Philips HS820) at the same price point and their sound is not as full, but they are like most earphones, extremely portable.

  • Summary: As a replacement for an iPod ear bud, the MX500 is a surprisingly decent performer, offering an acceptable sound and a strong value. - Looseness of fit may me the MX500's most serious flaw. Even turning your head a few degrees, the buds will fall out.

  • Excerpt: Have only had these 'phones for a few months and already the wire is pulling out from the volume control. Very badly made.

  • Excerpt: I bought these to replace the Apple ones supplied with my ipod nano. I was disappointed with the result - the only benefit being the in line volume control - the sound wasn't as punchy. After 10 months one channel died. I took them back to Comet for a replacement.

Not the best headphones ever made

Closerati..., Ciao

  • Excerpt: The Sennheiser MX 500 earphones aren't the best earphones that sennheiser have ever made. They don't fit too well into some people's ears and the little covers for the speakers that they come with are virtually useless, but if you're looking for some cheap headphones maybe as a temporary solution or...
  • Pros: Cheap, good sound quality, presented well
  • Cons: Don't stay your ear too well, covers for speakers useless

Sennheiser MX 500 - My Review

scottfish, Ciao
20 January 2007
  • Excerpt: The MX 500 earphones give great sound quality for any users. With a built-in volume control, the earphones can be used with any walkman, CD player, MP3 player or HiFi. I used this with my iPod and was surprised at how good the sound quality is, due to the low price I bought them for.
  • Pros: Sound quality is fantastic  -  fantastic price
  • Cons: None, seriously

Sennheiser's budget market product

WayneP86, Ciao

  • Excerpt: I bought these earphones to replace the ones that came with my ipod, because they were awful. These definitely raised the game but not massively The sound quality is pretty high actually, I can hear all the highs and lows, neither one overpowers the other, which is nice although i'd maybe like the...
