Summary: The Momentum is such a perfect name for this headphone. As Sennheiser’s first consumer oriented upper tier headphone it has done just about everything right and I’m sure it is the first of many headphones Sennheiser makes primarily targeted at the mainstream consumer. With the rapid growth of the consumer audio market the Sennheiser Momentum definitely isn’t alone as a premium headphone designed for the average consumer but it does a mighty fine job of standing out in...
Conclusion: At $300, the Sennheiser Momentum headphones are not cheap, but they just might be the best headphones in their price range. Their unique design makes them stand out from the rest of over ear headphones, and their performance delivers a clear, accurate experience that would fit all genres of music. Sonically and aesthetically, Momentum will impress any user looking for high end consumer headphones. It’s easy to see why Sennheiser is the biggest name in their industry.
Conclusion: The Sennheiser Momentum headphones are not the most expensive headphones that Sennheiser makes. Not by a long shot. But for $350, you're going to have a hard time finding something that sounds much better. While they do have small earcups for an over-ear headphone and the headband isn't the most comfortable, the sonics more than make up for these issues. I've reviewed a lot of headphones but these are the first from Sennheiser.
Pros: Build quality and aesthetics, Sound quality, Angle cable end
Conclusion: Like a great band, sometimes a pair of headphones hits all the right notes; and that’s the Momentum. Combining style, comfort, and sonic brilliance, Sennheiser’s Momentum on-ear had us rushing the stage for more. We realize $230 is a lot of money for an on-ear headphone, and $70 more can get you into a few more capable over-ear models.
Excerpt: Sennheiser’s new headphones are more than just good-looking, they’re downright sexy. Maybe it’s all the brown leather, but the Momentums seem to be steeped in that same, oddly masculine brand of cool that hovers like a halo over the best gear from 30 or 40 years ago. Pair them with two fingers of Lagavulin 21-year for your next listening session in the den, and you’ll catch the vibe.
