Summary: I bought this as I needed a good ear-canal headset compatible with the iPhone. Let's face it, it's a fantastic piece of technology: slick, great sound (on part with my other earphones Westone 3 which are great and more expensive). I have tired several brands and types of earphones and it stands at the top with the westone 3. The iPhone controls are very good as well.
Summary: I picked these up with airmiles, so in essence for free. I fly a couple of times a week and found most headphones too cumbersome or they don't cut out the ambient noise enough but these CX980i's are magic.
Summary: My new Sennheiser CX9801in-ear sound isolating headset arrived today. Right from the get go you can see that this is a premium bit of audio hardware. Sennheiser has really put a lot of thought into producing this product. The level of detail is unlike anything I've seen in a set of headphones in this price range. Even the packaging has been magnetically `enhanced'.
Summary: I have recently purchased these as my previous ear bud headphones (Bose) became defective, actually it was my IPhone that had broken but I didn't realise that at the time. What I was looking for was comfort, good sound and convenience, as well as a set of earphones that did not annoy my wife sat next to me or fellow travellers (there is nothing more annoying than hearing those horrible treble tones coming from someone).
Summary: Had these for a few weeks now, and they are very good. I use for commuting on the train and when in the gym and going running. The in-ear buds are very comfortable and prevent the sound from "leaking". The remote is easy to use and made of very high quality - something you'd expect from Sennheiser. Durable, robust, and classy looking. If you want decent in-ear buds and can afford it, look no further. Though not cheap, they are worth the dosh.

Summary: I was sceptical at first whether the high price of these headphones would actually deliver a significant enough difference over and above my current ones. I have always been of the "average price" school of headphones before and at first I didn't think these sounded much better than a previous £25 set of Sennheisers that I was using before. My mistake was first trying them out with the TV on and various other background noises!
