Solid pair of headphones

Timothy C., Newegg
17 June 2008
  • Pros: These were my first pair of ear bud headphones. I'm almost hooked on them now. They have very good bass for headphones, I was amazed playing a few heavy bass tracks. I would say the sound overall is decent, when I turn them out loud it's still pretty clear. All I really cared about was heavy bass...
  • Cons: They're making me go deaf.

  • Summary: In my uneducated opinion, these headphones are worth every penny. I'm no expert, however, so take my comments with a grain of rookie's salt.
  • Pros: I don't think I'm one of those golden-ear people, but I've got to say that these headphones are absolutely fantastic. I've never had better sound quality from a pair of earbuds- and even then, the only headphones I've heard that were better were also made by Sennheiser. I'd gladly recommend these...
  • Cons: Expensive! But, you get what you pay for.

The best earphone around $100

Qichen Z., Newegg
7 May 2008
  • Summary: Earphone burn in is always helpful because when earphone came out of the factory, the diaphragm are tight and not flexable. I recommand you do at least 60 hour of burn-in. I recommand white noise(loosen up the diaphragm for better sound and range), freq sweep 20hz-20000hz (great for earphones to...
  • Pros: Sennheiser is the world's top earphone and headphone maker. The earphone sounds great with punchy bass without damaging the mids and the highs. One of the most balance earphone that I had ever tried as the bass, mids, and highs are equally balance and not one of them over the other. Build quility...
  • Cons: no foam ear piece and need time to get use to the earphones as they fell like you are in water if you do not push the air out.I recommand use the flanged one.

Sennheiser CX500b

Gelofiel D., Newegg
19 February 2008
  • Summary: Much better bass then my shur* e2cn. Make sure you try the different earbuds/sizes to get the best fit. You get the best sound/bass with a tight fit. Purchased somewhere else because the price is too high here, would definitely buy again.
  • Pros: Great sounding in ear headphones with awesome bass. I also own the sennheiser cx300 and these are an improvement in every way. They are able to give you that rich bass while also improving in sound quality. Chord is lightweight and comes with a clip for your shirt and also comes with a carrying c...
  • Cons: Chord may be too short for some, perfect for me though. theyre still fairly new so the price is still at MSRP here at newegg.

Detail, Bass, Space

Jeffrey S., Newegg
23 January 2008
  • Summary: I use mine with a Cowon Iaudio7 player with FLAC files and personally tweaked EQ settings. Gotta say that nothing, iP*d or otherwise, can touch the sound quality of this pairing. It took me just over a week of constant use to find the correct fitments for me.
  • Pros: 1. Really good detail and bass for the price. 2. Excellent range of fitments for just about everyone. 3. Volume control (and it isn't huge so it is not noticeable and does not "pull" on wires) 4. Break in is short, I noticed increased warmth and quality after only a week of use. 5. Included prote...
  • Cons: With a flat EQ (or EQ off and neutral) the bass can seem to overwhelm the other frequencies, especially those that are representative of vocals. However, with a good source and proper EQ settings these shine!

Ben D., Newegg
16 January 2008
  • Summary: Newegg once again, delivered ahead of schedule.
  • Pros: Excellent overall sound without amp, mids to highs are a bit flat, bass has good range. Good fit and feel. Excellent build quality.
  • Cons: A few personal grievances, nothing to dissuade anyone seriously considering these.. Cord is a bit short for me. Volume control on cord is easily moved accidentally. No ability to mute on cord.

CX500-Amazing Earphones!

Michael F., Newegg
26 November 2007
  • Summary: First, please find the ear adapter that fits you best then complain. The secret to higher priced earphones like the CX500 is by using the silicone adapters that closely fit your ears. Only then can you enjoy the best that these earphones have to offer!
  • Pros: Sonic detail is great. Bass is amazing for something that small. For people that don't like a lot of bass then you need to put your mp3 player's EQ to Flat, Neutral or Off. People complain about the wire making a lot of noise but the solution to it is to find the right size of of silicone ear ada...
  • Cons: None for me. The Sennheiser brand satisfies my needs when it comes to my preferences of sound quality & detail from a head/earphone.

Worth a look.

Fante, Dooyoo
7 October 2013
  • Excerpt: The CX 500s are entry-level earphones; a step up from the basic-level £10 range, such as Sony's MDREX50LPs or JVC's XXs. They have three notable strengths. First, the sound isolation is very effective and not at all a gimmick; you really will not be able to hear any outside noise if you have the...

Ear-nectar at its very finest

Nepenthe, Dooyoo
6 January 2013
  • Excerpt: I first bought Sennheiser CX500s two years ago. Since then, I've lost two sets, and... bought replacements. These earphones truly merit their price tag. =Initial Impressions= I'm used to higher-quality sound coming from headphones rather than earphones, so I was skeptical at first about the CX500s.
