  • Summary: High frequencies lack detail and extension although mid and low frequencies are good and dynamic range is very respectable. I chose this over the cx300 because I needed the volume control and the balanced cable lengths. I always had problems wearing earphone so these earbuds are great and they come with a few sets of spare parts. Overall, very happy with this little earbuds given its price. Very easy to drive and love the noise isolation nature of earbuds.

  • Summary: Before I bought these I used ipod standard white headphones. The difference these make is, to me, absolutely incredible. My music tastes range from Jazz to drum and bass, from electro to prog rock, and for all genres, these headphones are infinitely better than any phones I have tried for under £80 and match up very well to much more expensive ones such as sonys MDR-EX500LPs.
  • Pros: Great Bass and Sound isolation from small light Earphones.
  • Cons: Bass could be overpowering for some forms of Music

A good quality earphone

  • Excerpt: I bought this on amazon to replace my rubbish mp3's earphone. It come in a well packaged case and two set of earbuds. The sounds from them are impresive and they do cancel out background noises, not all though. This is really a good buy for me as i travel a lot using the buses and trains. There are people who just talk annoyingly on their phone or to their friends in the bus and those who play out silly musics from their mp3s or phones.

Good quailty midrange in-earphones

  • Excerpt: I bought these in-earphones as a replacement for my CX400s which had an unfortunate incident with a vacuum cleaner! The Sennheiser CX500s come with a carry case, clip, Two complete sets of earbuds. Sound-wise, there is very little if any difference between the CX500 and the CX400, the only additional feature is the volume control on the CX500s. I have, in the distant past, owned a couple of pairs of CX300s.
  • Pros: Reliability

A rich and full sounding set of in-ear headphones ideal for MP3 players

  • Excerpt: I am coming to realise that iPod/MP3 player earphones take quite a beating indeed. I have owned a number of pairs of said earphones over the past two or three years, and inevitably, eventually they break down (normally the wires get frayed or something, and so you receive audio out of only one ear).

Brilliant sound but does not tick my boxes for using on the go, surely that's the whole point?

  • Excerpt: I brought these to go with a new iPod nano. I wanted a system that would give me a comfortable fit and depth of sound whilst on the go. I brought the CX500 eco's, these come in a lovely cardboard packaging, a good bit of drama to show off how good these sleek little head phones look. A great glossy black finish with a decent lenght of wiring. They come with three sets of ear bud sizes, to allow a 'custom' fit. Unfortunately this is not the case with me.

Good but room for improvement

  • Excerpt: The Sennheiser CX500 is a great piece of equipment. They maybe expenisive in shops but check PLay.com and they sell them for £40 which is the same price as the Sennheiser CX300 in store. The sennheiser look quality and come in titanium, black or for those looking to suit the color of their Ipod, a white.
