Great Headphones

Anonymous, Newegg
8 August 2008
  • Pros: These In Ear headphones are great! The bass is not so loud it drowns out the treble and mids. Very comfortable fitting design and is plenty loud. Comes with case and different ear canal sizes for any size person big to small.
  • Cons: The price is a little hefty but if you would spend 200-300 dollars on an mp3 player and use 5 dollar in ears for it then your not getting your money's worth in the first place

  • Pros: Great sound quality. Amazing bass, the low-end is crystal clear, no buzzing or muddiness. Very comfortable, and I happen to like the 2-foot cord since it's the perfect length to put my MP3 player in my coat pocket.
  • Cons: Isolation could be better. I've tried all three of the earpieces and none of them could achieve a very good seal. I ride a train to work so I was hoping for something that could block external noise a little better, but I'm probably spoiled by my old Etymotic 6is that started falling apart. If is...

Worth the step up

Jeffrey S., Newegg
5 February 2008
  • Summary: I appreciate the reviewer's inclusion of the stats, but unless you actually own a product you should refrain from recommendations concerning said product. We purchased these for my wife in a store (impatient) and she loves them. They actually replaced her CX300's to which were inferior in many ways.
  • Pros: Obvious benefits are good sound quality and bass. Noise cancellation seems to be greater than from simply "blocking" the canal albeit passive. Sturdy cord. Nice protective accessories included.
  • Cons: Somewhat short cabling that COULD be undesirable to some. The extension included could make the entire length in turn too long. No on-cord volume control or mute button. Bass can sometimes seem overwhelming without EQ assistance.

Frequency Response

Jason S., Newegg
3 January 2008
  • Summary: If I were you I'd shop around for a nice pair of CX300's. The sound quality is pretty much identical (technically), and you can get CX300's for around $35usd.
  • Pros: I don't actually own these, but the lack of technical data really bothers me. So here it is: Frequency response 17 - 21000 Hz, Cable length: Symmetric (earphone -> separator: 300 mm; separator -> plug: 300 mm). 1 m extension cable. Impedance: 16 Ohm ,THD: total harmonic distortion = < 0.2 %, Soun...
  • Cons: It's hard to justify paying more for these over the CX300 just because it comes with an extension cable.

Decent but pricey for the sound quality

  • Excerpt: I bought these earphones as replacements for an old pair of Sony Fontopia earphones which I lost. The Fontopias were about £20 and these were £35. Firstly, these are comfortable. They do not feel intrusive in your ear canal and even after very long periods (4+ hours) they barely irritate at all.
  • Pros: Comfortable, robustly built
  • Cons: A bit pricey

A highly worthwhile upgrade - just not earth-shattering...

  • Excerpt: It seems to be the ultimate cardinal sin among gadget fans - failing to upgrade the headphones that came with your iPod/MP3 Player. But what if you've never had any problems with your bundled headphones?
  • Pros: Reliability
