  • Excerpt: These (or the CX 400 II) are my all time favorite ear buds. The sound is stunning.
  • Pros: Sound quality
  • Cons: Cost and dirt getting into the volume slider over time. Cleans out with compressed air.

  • Pros: Ok for the price.
  • Cons: fit was average, sound was average, quality was average.

  • Summary: I bought my pair of cx400 to replace my cx300 and was expecting it to be a more refined version. I was, it's pretty safe to say, disappointed. The sound you get from these is far too similar to the 300's for their own good. I had the same problems with the cx400 as the 300. So I got boomy bass which drowns out the rest of the range. In this day and age I can't think of one good reason why you should buy the cx400's, there are earphones out there which are just as cheap...
  • Pros: Comfort,
  • Cons: Overly boomy bass,

Sennheiser CX 400 - Top notch at a good price

JohnBuck2..., Ciao

  • Excerpt: 3 weeks ago I was in an HMV store in London staring aimlessly at a wall of headphones. Clearly I was struggling as after about 5 minutes a shop assitant came over and recommended these babies. Initially I was dubious as they looked exactly the same as a cheapo £5.99 pair just next to them but I was assured the sound quality more than made up for the price (I got mine for £30) ..
  • Pros: Sound quality, Sound Isolation, Price, Comfort
  • Cons: Gets tangled, Very thin cable, weak bass

Decent but pricey for the sound quality

  • Excerpt: I bought these earphones as replacements for an old pair of Sony Fontopia earphones which I lost. The Fontopias were about £20 and these were £35. Firstly, these are comfortable. They do not feel intrusive in your ear canal and even after very long periods (4+ hours) they barely irritate at all. The sound quality is not great, though this is mostly, like all earphones, because they are earphones and not headphones.
  • Pros: Comfortable, robustly built
  • Cons: A bit pricey

A highly worthwhile upgrade - just not earth-shattering...

  • Excerpt: It seems to be the ultimate cardinal sin among gadget fans - failing to upgrade the headphones that came with your iPod/MP3 Player. But what if you've never had any problems with your bundled headphones? They're comfortable, look great and you don't really fancy shelling out £50 for a new pair that you don't really need.
  • Pros: Reliability

  • Pros: Great looks, lots of extra kit, noise cancelling works, comfortable, top quality sound
  • Cons: Not quite as big a difference as you might be led to expect .  .  .
