Summary: I bought my pair of cx400 to replace my cx300 and was expecting it to be a more refined version. I was, it's pretty safe to say, disappointed. The sound you get from these is far too similar to the 300's for their own good. I had the same problems with the cx400 as the 300. So I got boomy bass which drowns out the rest of the range. In this day and age I can't think of one good reason why you should buy the cx400's, there are earphones out there which are just as cheap...
Summary: These produce a good solid bass response for the type of music I listen to which is heavy Classical and Bluegrass. The Bass is not overdone in any regard. It is there but not overpowering. These preform well for all of the EQ settings on my I pod Touch 2nd and are heads above the stock ear-buds provided by Apple. Getting these will be a real treat!
Summary: I had to agree with JC, "I would have given five stars if not for the short cord. I don't like the fact that I have to use the extension which is included.". I use extension cord all the time (running, fishing, golf) because I keep my 60G iPod on my waist belt by low back side and short cord won't work. I used the clip that came with which helped me for a while but lost it on the golf course somewhere, it wasn't well deigned to be secure to stay on the cord.
Summary: Hmmm... I agree with "DKCOTH". These headphones have no bass whatsoever. The stock headphones that came with my iPod has more bass than it. The treble and the highs are OK, but absolutely no bass... I own a pair of Sennheiser HD 228's and is satisfied with that, but these are total garbage...
Summary: The standard issue iPod ear buds lost their grippy material and never sounded too good to me especially when I tried out my 10yo Sony CD player's headphones, so I started shopping for something new. These make the standard ear buds seem like tin cans!! What a huge difference in sound quality! I don't have to turn the sound up nearly as much and now the buds stay in my ears without falling out everytime I move my head! Can't say enough about the sound quality.
Pros: Comfortable, Good Bass, Lightweight, Rich Sound
Summary: These are probably the worst headphones I have had. I bought these because I own the Sennheiser, until recently, top of the line HD 650. The Sennheiser brand was what drew me to the CX400. However, when I first put these in my ears I was shocked at the poor quality of the sound, tinny and all upper frequencies. I thought I needed to break them in but after over 40 hours, no improvement. My iPod headphones sounded ten times better.
