Sennheiser CX300-B

rosyoverture, reviewed.com
29 October 2009
  • Conclusion: Iwas disappointed after my first day. the rubber tips are so thin and flexible it's hard to get them into your ears. I have an apple classic Ipod and I messed around for a half hour with the bass, loudness, treble, eq functions and I could not get as good of sound as I could with the factory ones...

  • Summary: They are much cheaper now than when I first purchased them 2 years ago (almost half the price) so it could be worth buying them if you don't mind the risk of having to send them back to Sennheiser a few times.
  • Pros: These are great headphones when they are working correctly. You can hardly beat the price on Newegg.
  • Cons: This is the first time I have ever posted a review on any product. Generally people cover all the bases and I don't feel my input would add to a buyer's decision. However, after owning these headphones for just over 2 years I have experienced 3 failed units. Each time the left channel would go ex...

very low volume

Christopher V., Newegg
24 September 2008
  • Summary: Not impressed and RMAed. After hearing so much about this brand, I expected much more.
  • Pros: none
  • Cons: The wire is very short and I found the volume to be excruciatingly low. Not good when you ride the NYC subway every day.

Save your money

Jack M., Newegg
19 September 2008
  • Summary: I would not buy these again or suggest that a friend do so. The only reason they got a two egg rating was that the Egg got them to me when expected.
  • Pros: Don't interfere with my eyeglasses. Price was 'good', almost 2/3 off.
  • Cons: - This the first time that I have ever heard 'quality' headphones that have worse sound than desktop speakers (Logitech 2300 in my case). - The folks at Fort Knox would be proud of the clamshell packaging. Was a nightmare to get open. I ended up bleeding. - Only got one of the long/thin earpads. ...

Very cheap

James w., Newegg
11 September 2008
  • Pros: decent sound quality
  • Cons: The right headphone cord was over 12 inches longer than the left. Wearing them is very awkward because the cord hangs very lopsided.

I can't understand the fuss

Eric B., Newegg
6 September 2008
  • Summary: Not worth the money-even on sale. I'll go back to the ipod phones and use these as a backup or use when I'm working in the woodshop.
  • Pros: fits more comfortably in the ear than my ipod headphones, which fall out of my ear. They do block outside noise well.
  • Cons: Sound is like its traveling through string to a couple of tiny cans--very tinny. I have no idea what 'bass driven sound' means on the packaging--perhaps driven out of these phones before shipping. I would really have been ticked off if I paid msrp for these headphones.

Tinny sound

Matthew W., Newegg
30 August 2008
  • Summary: I'm not sure how these got such good reviews. The sound is very tinny, highs are very bad. The bass is muddy and distorts easily (and they have all this advertising on the box bass). To me they sound worse than ipod buds..
  • Pros: none that i can think of
  • Cons: Sound quality, bass, highs, everything sounds bad out of these

Great headphones with horrible sound

Denis G., Newegg
27 February 2008
  • Summary: Will return these headphones ASAP and buy something else. There are quite a few headphones on newegg for cheaper price and with better frequency response, 6Khz - 23Khz ($30).
  • Pros: They are light, very comfortable. Perfect for those who want comfortable headphones, hate bass, and love hi-frequency sound. Less "chord rubbing against coat" noise than other headphones, mainly dues to higher quality cord.
  • Cons: I've never written a review before, but this product FORCED me write this review and warn others of the cons. "Powerful, bass-driven stereo sound": Are you kidding me?? The bass with these headphones is a disaster! I guess should have paid more attention at frequency response statistics: "18Hz - ...

Not worth it

Roger B., Newegg
15 March 2007
  • Summary: Not quite worth the price.
  • Pros: Good at blocking sound but seems to mainly due to plugging up the ear canal rather than electronic filtering.
  • Cons: Cords are too stiff, leading to the problems that others have noted (some noise when rubbing against cloths, etc.), and, they don't "hang" very well. Should have been more flexible. Unequal length cords to ear are another minus for me.
