Razer Piranha Gaming Communicator

The Piranha Gaming Communicator from Razer is a high quality headset made specifically for PC gamers. The headset is available in a black color with a blue Razer logo emblazoned on the ear cups. The triple headed snake logo has LED lights that glow blue when the USB cable is plugged in.

The Piranha’s cable measures approximately 9 feet and is single-sided to keep the cables out of the way. The cable features a robust braided fiber construction for maximum durability. The headset has an in-line remote control that lets the user set the microphone on mute and adjust the volume levels easily.

The Razer Piranha Gaming Communicator supports most major operating systems and connects to a computer via an audio and microphone jack as well as a USB cable. The USB cable needs to be plugged in in order for the LED lights to function. With a 3.5 mm mini plug, the Piranha Gaming Communicator can also be used for Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) conversations as well as headphones for media players.

Designed to be used for extended gaming sessions, the Piranha Gaming Communicator features an ergonomic design and generous amounts of padding. The headphones are fully adjustable to provide the most comfortable fit. The ear pieces also swivel so they fit the contours of the wearer’s ears better. The headset is fully padded with foam and is covered by a soft fabric.

The Razer Piranha Gaming Communicator’s uni-directional microphone is also adjustable. The boom is flexible to allow the user to better position the microphone. It can also rotate by about 110 degrees. For added voice clarity, the microphone also features noise filtering technology.

  1. Razer Piranha Gaming Headset

Testing of a headset/headphones is a tough task, since everyone has very different preferences and a headset that sounds good to one person might not be what the next person is looking for. Throughout my testing I've tried to pass along my findings, and quite frankly when it comes to audio I'm pretty picky and I enjoy good audio. When I put on the Piranha headset I wasn't blown out of my seat by it, but I'd say I was pleasantly surprised by it. When compared to a... Read more

I like the Piranha, it’s a very good headset. The microphone has just the right amount of sensitivity. The speakers sound crystal clear. Overall, this is a quality product. My biggest problem is with the volume and microphone adjustment controls. They are simply out of place with such a nice headset. At almost seventy dollars US, the Piranha is in a very high class of quality headsets and competition is steep. This is a decent product and should be considered by any pc... Read more

In my opinion Razer Piranha is one of the best headsets out there. The real deciding factor for me, was Piranha’s true-to-life audio quality, and the adjustable, noise-filtering microphone. Its comfortable to use and the ergonomics are excellent.  Pricewise, the Razer Piranha is approximately 70 dollars, and at this price I think that this headset is not all that expensive ... considering the quality you get. For the pro gamer, these headsets are very good and... Read more

The Razer Piranha is a good product that could be better. The style and sound of the device are almost perfect, but the form of the device needs some improvement. The use of a more flexible plastic for the headband and larger ear cups would make the Piranha much more comfortable. Hopefully the next iteration will address these issues. Read more

In conclusion the Razer Piranha is a great headset with a lot of great features.    It rest comfortably on your head and is well made.    The single threaded cable with in line volume and mic control.  Built on and adjustable mic and even glowing logo's tell you that this a very well made pair of headphones.    Having this pair of headphones for several weeks and having dropped them a few time I have to say they are very durable.   I had no problems at all... I'm giving these headphones two stars because I found they were not that durable. Pros - They work well, sound is good - They look very nice. Cons - They do take a USB port, just to power the lights, so that isn't so cool. - Less durable that expected. My first set broke when the cord got tangled between the ear piece and the headset. The ear piece broke right off. Very upsetting and I could image that the construction could have been a little better. I don't expect them... Read more

A fantastic headset. Used these for late night fragfests of Counter Strike Source, F.E.A.R. and Crysis. I was loud and clear, as were the people on the other end. Read more

I was very pleased with this product, the best feature is the comfort it provides when you are gaming for long periods of time, the microphone allows for very clear communication and it works very well with my sound card to maximize the user experience whether it be gaming or listening to music, i would definitely recommend this product to buy, as it has all the features you need to play a wide selection of games, whilst being a lot more competitive in price compared to... " I've had this headset for some time now, still works great, excellent audio, and I've never had any complaints in vent about my sound, so it seems the mic works rather well too. The only issues I have with this headset is that they do tend to get rather uncomfortable approaching the 10+ hour mark, but what doesn't. The mic mute switch is also very easy to hit if you tend to fidget around alot. Minor complaints aside, a very good headset, and well worth the money. " Read more

I use a set of 5.1 speakers to listen to music or in-game sound effects - only using the Piranhas for voice communication; but for their intended purpose, they have been superb. The only drawback is that my ears tend to get a little warm after a couple hours of use which does not seem unreasonable. They're very comfortable on my head for hours at a time. They're solidly built, albeit light, and the mic is very sturdy as well. I've not had to mess with the volume control... Read more
