Summary: I purchased this about 8 months ago. Had great sound, mic sensitivity had to be set to 0 or it had feedback (I tend to leave one ear off, and it picked up the other speaker like nothing else. Once I played around with it a bunch it finally sounded pretty decent. Pros: Lots of configuration, easy to switch between surround and stereo, clear mic, comfortable Cons: 8 months later and something disconnected in the headset disabling first the right ear and now both.
Summary: I ordered this on June 26th, 2012. Have worn it and used it regularly since. While it is a good product, the headset audio randomly stops working. If I unplug the USB and plug it back in, it works just fine again. I have the latest drivers (Pft, from 2011...) but this still occurs. I'm not sure how to fix it, and all Razer Support does is send me their copy & paste email support BS. I just want a headset that works, that I don't have to re-buy every 2-3 years.
Summary: It looks pretty and the sound is good but the mic is rubbish, on the lowest setting it still picks up my wife talking in the other room and the fan on my case on the other hand they fit my head comfortably and that was the reason I bought them. ...And then I upgraded to windows 8 Anyone who is still interested in buying them know the Megalodon does not work with windows 8 or 8.1 their customer service told me this "Hey there Alexander, My name is Matt and I will be...
Summary: Sound was fine in 2.0 and 7.1 mode. A bit of an echo though in 7.1 mode, but was bearable. When utilizing the microphone (OMG) it was horrendous. I tried adjusting the settings on my computer and so on and so forth, but no absolute luck. I don't know if it was just mine or what, but my voice was not audible whatsoever. It was if a nitroglycerin plant was blowing up behind me each time I spoke into the mic. Would have been at least 4 stars, but you obv.
Summary: Ok guys, I have no idea why these are getting some bad reviews. Thses came today, I updated the firmware, made the volume adjustments I wanted. got into Vent to ask my guildies what they thought, and the overwhelming response was nothing short of incredible. They all said it sounded like I was standing in the same room, right next to them and one guildie lives 10,000 miles away.
Summary: While being an excellent product on all fronts, the Razer Megalodon headset has one fatal flaw I noticed right after receiving it. For unknown reasons, this headset takes up a MASSIVE (63-65%) of any computer's USB bandwidth. This, when coupled with the other USB bandwidth uses such as a mouse or an I-phone, causes the USB bandwidth to overload and prevent the usage of some applications.
Summary: I have used these headphones for 1 week now and the sound is excellent quality and the 7.1 surround sound works outstandingly well. However, the mic has had static issues since the day I have received it and Razer was of no help. I have tried all the fixes including the latest firmware from Razer and the problem is still there. It means that the headphones can't be used for talking online and are basically very expensive speakers.
Summary: Very disappointed with these, especially considering the price. The microphone didn't work and the sound was poor. Have returned them for a refund. Have decided to get a set for a third of the price and accept they may not last as long.
Summary: As you get the box of this products you start to believe that the sound and features experience will be really unique...well you thought wrong. The sound quality and volume is quite poor, especially in games. I tried to use the 7.1 function, with no luck. The sounds are really "metallic" and there is no way you can really understand where the sound is coming from. In music the volume is quite low and it lucks of bass.
Summary: Unfortunately I had serious problems with this headset. The 2.0 sound worked fine but the 7.1 was absolutely horrible, with serious muffling and echos. I tried everything, I contacted Razer, updated drivers, system etc, got replacements, they didn't work either, contacted Dell, and nothing could be done. So I have sent them back and plan to buy a different headset.
