Razer Barracuda HP-1 Gaming Headphones

  • Summary: While this was Razer's first attempt at creating gaming headphones, let alone any audio products, they certainly put their best foot forward with the Barracuda HP-1. From the build quality to the audio performance, the Razer Barracuda HP-1 was able to satisfy our tastes in every form.

  • Summary: Before I even laid my hands on the headset, I was rather skeptical that a headset could provide true 5.1 sound. Although I knew it was a razer product, and I have yet to be disappointed by one of their products, I was still worried. Now I can say again that I am not disappointed by razer’s products.

  • Summary: These are my everyday gaming and music cans for like 10 years now through two sets of them. The bass response is unparalleled with USB powered built-in amplification and a dedicated 40 mm subwoofer driver.
  • Pros: Clean Amped Bass, Clear mids, Crisp Highs, No sibliance, dedicated subwoofer driver, velour earpads, inline levels control,
  • Cons: USB powered, 4 3.5 mini plugs to navigate, must have 5.1 audio, not mobile at all.

CNET

  • Summary: The Razer Barracuda HP-1 Gaming Headphones are great for gameplay, but there are better options for music and movies.
  • Pros: The Razer Barracuda HP-1 Gaming Headphones provide excellent 5.1 surround sound for games. The removable microphone is great for online multiplayer and VoIP applications. The built-in amp is powered by a USB connection, rather than the AC power found on some competing models.
  • Cons: The headphones don't sound as good with movies and music as they do with games. You must buy Razer's sound card to truly optimize audio.

  • Summary: The Razer Barracuda HP-1 gaming headphones are a solid surround sound option for PC gaming. The sound quality is fairly good and the overall experience of the eight drivers was, if nothing else, a lot of fun.
