Initial Impressions

Kevin F., Newegg
26 June 2009
  • Summary: Newegg's and Ama*on's return policies are much different. They preship a DOA item that is purchased from them at zero cost. It takes a "perfect" product to get my 5 eggs. This one would normally get 4. Neweggs's bad -1 egg = 3
  • Pros: Great BT earpiece by Plantronics. Good battery life. Excellent quality.
  • Cons: First item was DOA. I had to pay shipping on an item twice. This was not my mistake. Not my problem. Nor my concern. I more than showed due diligence by doing my homework and research. I knew what I wanted, and purchased it.

Very Good Value With Problems

Kannon Y., Newegg
22 December 2008
  • Summary: I paid $80 in early 2007. I intended it to be used as an all-in one audio device, for cellular, music, VoIP, audio recording and foreign language training. It performs excellently when paired with a phone and for VoIP.
  • Pros: I will say this about the 855: It's a very well designed device, with a few exceptions, that make it an average device. On the positive side, it comes with an assortment of ear plugs and hangers, making it fit pretty much any size. Additionally, the battery life is good, the setup (like most Plan...
  • Cons: On the downside, the boom mike style microphone does not pick up audio all that well. People can understand you without serious problems, but many complain of hearing a high pitched hum in the background. I've used the mike to record audio before and in the playback, there's an extremely high-pit...

Podcast Problems with Sony Ericsson Phone

Anonymous, Newegg
22 December 2008
  • Summary: You might want to try these with your phone in a store first before ordering online. I listen to a lot of podcasts and most only have one channel (as opposed to a left and right channel for stereo music). With my SE phone, the mono podcasts will not play but no sound come through the headset.
  • Pros: Lighweight, fits well, stays on in gym, battery life
  • Cons: Mono Podcasts wont play with my Sony Ericsson z750a phone.

Good headset with some quirks

Anonymous, Newegg
28 November 2008
  • Summary: I bought this one specifically because of the lanyard and my mistaken belief that it paired with multiple phones. I carry two BlackBerries (one personal, one for work) and this was a feature that I really wanted.
  • Pros: - Good fit; comes with multiple ear hooks and ear plugs of varying sizes - Comfortable as all get out - Great sound quality, both incoming and ougtgoing - Easy to use
  • Cons: - Does not pair with more than one phone at a time (I thought I had read somewhere that it did, but was disappointed to find that it didn't; the next model "down" -- the 815 -- does; the only things missing from the 855 to the 815 are the lanyard and the stereo headset options) - Ear plugs kept p...

Look Good only

Ada G., Newegg
18 November 2008
  • Summary: I returned it after I test the bluetooth device on my girlfriend's cell phone, G900, and I have the same result.
  • Pros: It is light and looks real good. I liked it very much before having it.
  • Cons: I believe the stereo bluetooth will deliever good quality of sound with in 10M range. I have to say I know 10M is just a normal range for bluetooth, so I expect it can hold up to 5M to 8M distance long. However, it make me disappointed. I just put my cell phone, LG KS20, in my carrying bag, and t...
