Plantronics Voyager 815

The Voyager 815 Bluetooth headset from Plantronics features a lightweight and very compact design. The headset weighs only 0.4 ounces and also features an innovative ear bud design as well as a convenient sliding boom which houses the microphone. The Plantronics Voyager 815 runs on a built-in lithium ion rechargeable battery that, on a single charge, can last up to 7 hours of continuous use with a mobile phone and up to 180 hours on stand by mode.

The Voyager 815’s monoaural earpiece features soft and comfortable ear buds that block out unnecessary noises. The noise canceling abilities of the in-ear ear buds make for clearer conversations. Included in the standard package are three ear buds of different sizes (small, medium and large) to ensure the best fit for the wearer. To help keep the Voyager 815 stable and in place, the headset also comes with an ear loop stabilizer.

The microphone is housed in an unobtrusive boom that can slide forward for better voice clarity. The convenient sliding mechanism can also be used to both answer and end calls.

The headset features Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR (Enhanced Data Rate) wireless connectivity and has a maximum transmission range of up to 33 feet. It supports the hands-free and headset Bluetooth profiles. Plantronics has included its AudioIQ, QuickPair and MultiPoint technologies in the Voyager 815. AudioIQ minimizes ambient noises and digitally enhances the sound of natural voices, making calls clearer on both ends. The QuickPair technology will put the headset on pairing mode as soon as it is turned on to make pairing with mobiles phones quick and easy. And with MultiPoint, the Voyager 815 can be paired with two Bluetooth-enabled phones at the same time and allows the user to seamlessly switch between the two devices.

One of the two I bought came with a dead charger, Plantronics replaced the charger within two business days. Two thumbs up to customer service for Plantronics. If you've had problems in the past with low volume on other headsets, this is by far the best since it's in the ear. You can even hear clearly while driving with the windows open on the highway. At first the earpiece felt very comfortable. However, it kept popping out of my ear. With the additional hook, it still ends up dangling loosely and flopping around. The sound quality is okay at best, but only when you can keep it in your ear. The buttons are too small making it difficult to discern one button from another. The main switch is nearly impossible to feel and you must press way too hard, holding the button in when using the voice activation feature. Read more
