Summary: *Before reading, please know that I'm very new to Head-Fi and I've never written a serious review before. Thanks!
I bought these headphones after months of on and off research and consideration. I wanted a really high quality headphone that my iPhone and desktop computer could drive without the bass-heaviness of Beats by Dre (I listen to mostly rock of all types) and I didn't want to spend more than $175.
Summary: Great sound isolation and exclusion of noise. One must thus be extra watchful for traffic or any approaching menace when one is enjoying the great sound out doors. I took a 6 km lunch walk today and enjoyed the beautiful music of The Walflowers, John Mayer, Jackson Brown, Pretenders and a duet between Neil Diamond and Babara Steisand with this uptown Philips. I am convinced these headphones are great with the pop and rock genre in great outdoors.
Pros: Audio quality, looks, and great for outdoors. Don't need an amplifier
Cons: Sliding volume control on the cable. Easy to over adjust and blast your ears. Prefer pinch type of control.
Summary: I love the design of this set. Very stylish with good quality material. The brown/metallic combo looks expensive. The band is leather wrapped and the ear pads are soft and comfortable. I have a large head and found that the tension is just right. If you have a smaller size head, you might find the fit a bit loose. Noise isolation is good due to the closed back design. Sound is great. Nicely balanced. Good bass. Treble rolls off nicely.
Summary: Not a huge fan of the color but the sound is pretty clear and drowns out the background noise, so these come in pretty handy when I'm at college and studying on my laptop, especially when I have to listen to boring psychology videos! As I said the only thing I dislike are the big, bold, brown color; really any other color would have been preferable, but that's just me being a shallow girl.
Summary: Very well worth the price. This baby gives you the full spectrum, being able to point out every instrument with the proper amount of bass to back it up. Heavy songs with bass such as most rock songs and hip hop perfect, with no noise in or out. I also watched act of valor and heat to test them. And all i have to say is damn good.
Low volume...but then I read more about BURN IN..NOW they are FABULOUS

Summary: I've read about `burning in' headphones before because I had gotten an expensive set that seemed too quiet. When I got these, I had the exact same issue. I grew up in the 80s, we crank it :) So I read up on burning them in and tried it. WHAT AN IMPROVEMENT! I almost can't believe that there are not directions in the box on how to do this! So, I'll tell you what I did after all of my reading. First I got an app (a free one) that only played `pink' and `white' noise.
Sounds good, feels OK and blocks most ambient noise

Summary: I have not tried the microphone on these headphones, but they work great for listening to audio, both music & speech. Even though the plug does have an extra segment to handle the mic connection, it works fine in a standard PC stereo 1/8th inch headphone jack. The padding around the earpieces is extremely soft and cushiony, making the headphones quite comfortable to wear. It also blocks a lot of ambient noise that gets around standard non-ear-covering PC headphones.
Summary: For un-amplified cans, these guys are some of the best around. I compared them to a battery amped pair of beats, and a pair of powered Creative top of the line phones. As you'd expect they are a little under driven on just about any portable mp3 player, especially in the bass department compared to their powered bretheren, but none the less they are a fantastic experience offering discreet trebs mids and bass.
Summary: Sound leakage was of utmost importance in my consideration of this Uptown headphone offering from Philips. Due to my husband's work hours I have to go about my morning quietly in order not to wake him. When myself or the kids are playing music, video games or movies it is very important that there be very minimal to no sound leakage. I have found that the sound quality does work very well for movies.
Summary: I couldn't be more pleased with these headphones. First, they are extremely comfortable. I have small ears, and have never been comfortable wearing any sort of earbuds. The cushioning is soft and completely envelops the ears, sealing in the music; sealing out extraneous noise. I wore them for long periods of time, and did not have any desire to rip them from my head; I also wear glasses, and there was no interference at all with my glasses.
