  • Summary: **Last Update: Sept 18, 2012**   About:   The Uptown is the highest model in Philips' new CitiScape line of headphones. They come in black/brown or silver/brown, and are priced at $150 USD (street is/can be much lower). A few specs:   Impedance: 32 Ohm Sensitivity: 103 dB Max Power Input: 30mW Drivers: 40mm Cable Length: 1.2m (~4ft) Connector: 3.5mm   As you can see from the specs these should be pretty easy to drive, so an amp isn't required.
  • Pros: Sound (esp. bass and soundstage), extremely comfortable, looks nice
  • Cons: Cable could be better, inline remote is a problem, causes static and channel imbalance unless in a "sweet spot"

  • Summary: A friend of mine needed a new headphone, which was cheap, closed and good sounding. I said to him, dream on friend it will be very tough to find a headphone with those criteria. But then after some browsing in the city, I stumbled upon the philips uptown. The first thing that struck me was the comfort. They feel much better than what you would expect for the price. I thought they felt better than the sennheiser momentum with those small ears.
  • Pros: Clear sound, very big soundstage.
  • Cons: Bass boost.

  • Summary: Built solidly and its absolutely beautiful. The sound is a lil too loud in the trebles and the bass isnt as powerful. still it gives a very clear crisp sound and its has very good range. wearing this i feel you can hear even the tiniest sounds from the recording...stuff i didnt notice before.

Better than Beats.

  • Summary: A year after purchase... Still very happy with these headphones. I like the design of the colour and more importantly the sound. These headphones have a fantastic soundstage, really amazing to listen ambient or electric music such as Burial, Tim Hecker, Caribou. I'm still amazed by the sound, clear and not too "bass-y". The soundstage with the bits and pieces that sounds like they would come from next door.

Not bad for the price

  • Summary: Not bad for the price, but too heavy to use on the train/tube...and fiddly, get the TR55-LX Phillips headphones they are just as portable and don't sweat your ears up too much

Comfortable and Elegant design

  • Summary: Very light headphones, they fit around your ears quite nicely thanks to the memory foam. The volume is adequate but i wish that there was a 20% increase in it. On the other hand, the headphones provide ample amounts of sound cancellation when music is on.

A good pair

  • Summary: I generally agree with this pair of headphones. First I would like to partially confirm the rumors about the cable. Yes it is not excellent and feels cheep. Too bad as the headphones overall have a very good feeling. They sound good and are comfortable to wear. I Would recommend these headphones but you need to be a bit careful with the cable.

Super comfortable

  • Summary: As other said they are super comfortable and nice looking headphones. The truth is that the volume slider is a bit nonsense and sometimes faulty. I had to return my first pair of philips headphones because the volume slider was not working as it was supposed to. With the new pair, i received yesterday everything is OK!

Excellent for closed cup headphones under £50

  • Summary: Excellent retro styling and comfortable to wear. I have quite a large head so felt a little tight for the first few hours but then loosened up nicely. Sound quality is excellent for a closed cup headphone with deep bass but still picks out the detail sounds in the music that cheaper headphones miss but you still wont get the depth you get with open cup.
