  • Summary: I bought this cans because I needed a pair of headphones for outside mobile use with a normal phone/mp3-player. As such, the design and build quality were the most important factors to decide.   In this regards, the Fidelio L1 is an excellenct choice, as they are beautiful and have a very solid feel to it - everything on this headphone consists of either metal or leather.
  • Pros: excellent build quality, detachable cable, comfortable, good bass,
  • Cons: parts not changeable, carpet in lower highs, too low clamping force (moves on head)

  • Summary: The L1 is peculiar, described by Philips as semi-open, and while it does not have the best of either world in soundstage or isolation, if offers something that makes it a bargain at the price in my opinion. The L1 played flat has big bass and very good mids and highs, but with bass reduction becomes one of the best hi-fi headphones under $900 USD or so.

A very good, very warm sounding headphone.

  • Summary: SOUND: This is without a doubt a very good headphone. However, they claim to sound as the artist intended, which is very far from the truth, but this is not a bad thing. They just have a very warm, bassy sound. The treble lacks a little clarity as a result of this and the bass could be tighter but they still sound great. The soundstage is really wide, sounds like the music is all around you which is awesome, BUILD: Simply perfect.

Third time lucky!

AndyMac, Amazon
5 August 2013
  • Summary: Bought a set of these open-box from Amazon Warehouse to replace a set of IEMs (Klipsch S4i)that I was finding too fiddly to use. The build quality is excellent, but without making them overly heavy. Comfort is pretty good. Padding on the headband is adequate, but I'd have preferred a few extra mm for prolonged use (not too much of an issue for me as I only use them for daily commute). The fabric-covered cable is very nice.

A great pair of headphones

Mr. Jon Forster "sensor", Amazon
17 April 2013
  • Summary: I use headphones a lot - both in-ear and 'full size'. I listen to a range of music and also spoken word. First point is these have to be pretty good for the price and also have to stand out as you would not think of Philips as a first choice headphone provider. The reviews of these had been positive in the trade press type magazines and they looked to deserve being around my ears. They are the open back type so not all wrapping around your ears.

Great sound, great design, disappointing low end

  • Summary: I have never really considered Phillips as a company that produces super high-end products. Yet here I am, eating my words as I use the Phillips Fidelio headphones. They are not perfect but they are close enough! The presentation is what strikes you first. The headphones come in a sturdy black box.

Quality build, quality sound

Sue H "Sunshine Suzzy", Amazon
27 August 2012
  • Summary: Along with other reviewers I can endorse the high build and sound quality of the Phillips L1/00 High fidelity head phones. Unlike some other reviewers I'm not a high end sound expert, coming more from the cheap and cheerful end of the market having used many ear bud phones, which are great in terms of value for money, weight and ease of use when horizontal. However they fall out easily and the quality is not great.

Good headphones for HiFi sound

50s Cat "BuddieHollie", Amazon
23 August 2012
  • Summary: First thing I noticed about these were the weight they seem very heavy for headphones but this is to be expected with the price range and build. The cable that comes with these is of very high quality indeed though they come with the cable separate with a connection which can be prone to wear and tear. At first the sound was distorted but when I removed the connection and reconnected the sound was clear.

Beautifully crafted but sonically ordinary

KMW, Amazon
22 August 2012
  • Summary: I love the subtle styling of these headphones, they're beautifully crafted and they look and feel extremely high quality. I was slightly concerned at the size of the ear cups when I first opened them, but they fit suprisingly well over my ears and the soft synthetic leather memory foam pads and headband offer a very comfortable and snug fit.
