Excellent budget headphones

Adorama
2 April 2014
  • Excerpt: Very pleased with the Panasonic RP-HTX7. I ran across a recommendation for these headphone in review of the best headphones under $100 and was intrigued that the price was closer to the bottom that the top. I found a pair with the black covers at Adorama for under $30. I was looking specifically for a high-efficiency unit to use with my MP3 player and the Panasonics fit the bill. I like a right-angle plug for my headphones so a bought a right-angle adapter.
  • Pros: Comfortable, Compact, Good Value, Lightweight

Outstanding for the price

  • Summary: They would be good headphones at any price, and they are fantastic headphones at roughly $40. All they need is a short burn-in period, and they sound great. The combination of excellent build quality, good aesthetics, plus a single cord design that avoids the annoying split into separate ear cups creates a great mix of features that is incredible for this price range. The only reason I gave 4 and not 5 eggs is because of the previously mentioned bass issues.
  • Pros: Exceptionally durable, the metal headband is a major plus. These headphones are relatively light, and ideal for extended continuous usage. The retro design is fun, and they have excellent frequency response from midrange through treble. Many other headphones at double the price have inferior overall sound.
  • Cons: As many others have mentioned, the short cord can be annoying. But this is easily fixed with a cord extension, and not a major gripe. The bass response is adequate, but if you're a serious bass fan you might want to look elsewhere. The padding on the ear cups gets a little frayed after extended use. The headset is not designed to fold or collapse, so it is fairly bulky.

  • Summary: It is one of the most comfortable pair of headphones I've ever owned the only problem is it does have no way of controlling the volume on headphones like the old pair that I had used to do there sometimes can be static in the ears and a slight buzzing but other than that they're fabulous lightweight durable and very comfortable

  • Summary: Sound is really amazingly good for the price, I'm real happy with these. I bought two pair for children. They are built solid no fragile joints to worry about. Great buy for the money.

Great headphones!

  • Excerpt: I don't use headphones for any professional use, but I do use headphones A LOT so I needed a pair that was comfortable. These are great - I had been having trouble with my old pair becoming painful after too many hours. Not the case with these. Plus the Color's fun and the adjustability is handy.
  • Pros: Comfortable, Good Value, Great Sound, Stylish
  • Cons: Bulky

Uncomfortable for Me

MikeyNY, B&H Photo

  • Excerpt: Sound quality is good for an average user like myself. I use it to watch shows on my laptop while reducing outside noise. However, I don't find the headphones themselves comfortable in that they squeeze a little bit. After a while, when I remove them, I feel relieved on the sides of my face from the pressure of the earphones pressing in. Something I didn't feel or notice when I tried this out in-store, but now I do. If it works for your head, by all means, get this one!
  • Pros: Good Value, Great Sound, Lightweight
  • Cons: Uncomfortable

Sound good and comfortable, but a tad towards the flimsy side

Anonymous, Newegg
19 October 2012
  • Summary: I wish the cord where about 8" longer. Not a big deal.
  • Pros: Very comfortable.
  • Cons: Flimsier than I'd hoped for. Not horribly so. But I kind of wonder if the ear cups might shatter if dropped onto hard tile from 6 ft or so.
