Excerpt: I'm on the road about 100 days a year - often by air; and I thought noise-cancelling headsets made a lot of sense while flying. I had the pleasure of using my friend's Bose 300 over-the-ears one time and there's no question they're the gold standard. Instead, I've now bought two lower-priced sets...this one comes recommended by most reviewers. Well, they're perfectly fine, but they probably only cancel out 20% more noise than ordinary over-the-ear headsets.
Excerpt: As noise cancelling headphones, the product is worth about what it costs. It only cancels about 85% of low frequencies --- no high or mid frequencies at all. So the low rumble of a jet engine is reduced, but forget about gasoline lawn mower engines or people's voices (or babies crying). The headphones themselves sound excellent -- although a little heavy on the bass end. The construction seems reasonably sturdy (again, for the price).
Pros: Comfortable, Easy To Use, Great Sound Quality
Good headphones....but noise cancelling function does nothing

Summary: Headphones are clear and comfy (can be worn all day) but the noise cancelling function doesn't do anything. A good pair of headphones for the cash, but if you want the noise cancelling function...you'll probably have to pay for the expensive ones.
Summary: I have a few pairs of high end active noise cancelling headphones, and it wasn't the key feature I was looking for in this set. I was after comfort. So with that in mind here's a quick breakdown. Noise cancelling: There's a switch and a light. Other than that the difference between on and off is almost impossible to quantify. Comfort: I've had them on for ten minutes now and the hard plastic strap across the top is starting to dig into my skull.
Summary: The noise cancelling feature is not strong (but perhaps that's what you get at this price range), but it does cancel some noise. When tried in comparison to Bose, you immediately feel the difference - this being a lower class product. On the airplane (which is the real test for me) is lets some of the engine noise in, but still it is far better using these than without them.
