Summary: Hi, I've recently got my EB-50, and straight out of the box, I had to adjust my ears to the flat sound signature. the sound is clinical and dry but very true. Coming from the luscious RE-262 (difficult to drive, mid-centric but with extremely great soundstage), the EB-50 were extremely fast and I loved the soundstage that as a out-of-the-head feeling that almost seems not coming from the earphones. Really! Kind of like having over the ear phones.
Pros: Great sound, flat, true, versatile, soundstage, design
Summary: At first these 'phones will most probably disappoint and just like me will wonder why the hell you just spent £150 on them! Don't worry have patience, fiddle around with all of the ear buds to get a good fit and then squeeze them right into your lug hole to get an air tight seal. Listen again to something and there you have it, relief that all is well and this was money well spent.
Summary: These have taken a while to fully blossom. First impression was a bit meh compared to my previous B&W in ears, but over time I have either got used to them or they have broken in and I am very happy with them. They are very neutral (perhaps the B&W's were a bit bass heavy-never a bad thing for me!!), and do have the MF quality of 'disappearing' so that the music is all that matters. I use MF DAC and amps in my home set up.
Summary: Where its consumers demand nothing less than the closest possibility to sonic perfection, British born 'Musical Fidelity' is a manufacturer best associated with state-of-the-art premium Hi-Fi separates. Enter the EB-50's, Musical Fidelity's first, and only, attempt at premium earphone design where, in comparison to many of the other earphones out there on the market, their quirky nature and bulky industrial design harbours a certain sonic taste that is somewhat...
Summary: These have got to be the greatest in ear devices on the market. As a classical musician I find the uncoloured pure sound of these incomparable. Even plugged into an iPhone they really deliver and there is plenty of volume there.
Summary: Was looking for in-ear phones that would compare with the Bose noise cancelling over-ear format. Took a chance on the EB50s and I'm not disappointed. Obviously they don't reduce ambient noise down to levels Bose achieve (they're only passive, of course); but very impressive. I agree with previous comments ~ sound clarity/reproduction is extraordinary and because of this the sound seems a little 'thin' at first; but you're getting the uncluttered sound of the original...
