TESTED: Beats By Dre Tour In-Ear Headphones

14 July 2011
  • Excerpt: Beats by Dr. Dre is a sub-brand of Monster Cable whose stated goal is to make true, studio-grade sound (as approved by Dr. Dre, of course, as well as his long-term collaborator/producer Jimmy Iovine) available to consumers at accessible prices. But apart from sonic qualities, Beats by Dre products are designed to look cool, too, sporting a distinctive red-and-gloss-black design motif that’s very attractive.

Beats by Dre Tour Review

31 July 2009
  • Excerpt: After wowing hip-hop fans and audiophiles alike with his bass-blasting Beats by Dre headphones last year, Dr. Dre returned in 2009 promising the audio equivalent of V8 power from a tiny four banger: putting the same thump in a pair of earbuds. Thus, the Beats by Dre In-Ear Headphones were born. But can Dr. Dre and the audio wizards at a cable company really overcome the laws of physics that typically make earbuds sound so tinny?
  • Pros: Solid bass, as promised; eye-catching design and colors; truly tangle-free cords; variety of silicon tips
  • Cons: Slight harshness, missing detail in music; difficult to change silicon ear tips; some discomfort with longer ear tips

Monster’s Beats Tour Earphones in Review – Made for today’s music

25 July 2009
  • Conclusion: So, the 150$ question is, has Monster made the ultimate earphone? Well, that depends on you. If you like the music at which the Tour excels: slow hip hop, pop and contemporary rock, the Tour is a great-sounding phone; it strikes forward-vocals in a controlled pace and jives with the duff duff bass of recently mastered recordings. For that music, the Tour may be one of the best earphones in the <200$ market.
  • Pros: Lovely package, Great carrying case, Decent selection of ear pieces, solid construction, Unique cable, good sound quality with modern pop music
  • Cons: One of the most striking aspects of Monster’s Beats Tour is its cable. Red like the box, the thin, flat, and patent-pending, it is a portable-perfect 1,2 metres in length. Monster also claim that it is tangle-free (a promise which many companies make), a boast which I can attest as near-fact; no matter how hard rolled the earphone into a nasty yarn-like ball, the Tour never tangled. A good five minutes of the same changed nothing, and neither did haphazardly tossing t...

Mobile Review
9 July 2010
Turbine Pro.
