Not too bad, but I wouldn't recommend it.

You_Noob, CNET
26 March 2014
  • Summary: I personally don't think it's too bad. If you see it for $5 at a store, go ahead and buy it. The main reason I'm really criticizing it is because the price is much to high for the audio quality that you're getting. For $300, you can get a great pair of headphones. This one, however, does not cut it. If these headphones were cheaper, I might give it a higher rating, but for now, I do not like it, and it needs improvement.
  • Pros: It looks nice, and 11 year olds will envy you. That's literally the only pro.
  • Cons: The base muffles out any of the other instruments playing in music, the headphones are built poorly and can easily break, uncomfortable.

Beats - Overrated, Mediocre, and Overpriced.

joejoeweiwei, CNET
18 February 2014
  • Summary: Beats are good if you listen to rap, especially because of the loud bass. However, Beats is very pricey - other brands, such as Bose, sell for $100 - $300 less. The flimsy plastic construction will not stand a couple falls (There go your $300 headphones), plus it is uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time: The structure of the headphones crush your skull. The look of the headphones are not bad, though.
  • Pros: - Beats look good., - Bass is loud., - Good for rap and some pop songs.
  • Cons: - Beats are uncomfortable to wear., - Bass is not clear., - Very expensive and overpriced for quality of sound.

Not Worth the Price

  • Summary: Honestly, Beats Pros are a decent pair of headphones. It is higher quality than a lot of in-ear headphones and you'll have (Slightly) above-average sound quality. But for the price, I should love these headphones and the honest truth is I don't. They are uncomfortable to wear after 2+ hours, they are WAY to heavy on the bass, and the sound quality is meh. These headphones should be priced at around $80-$100, tops.
  • Pros: Very Sturdy Stay on head
  • Cons: Over-Priced Very Uncomfortable after 2+ hours Not very portable Sound Quality is only slightly above average

These are all just in the name

  • Excerpt: Basically you are paying just for Dre's name. These are okay headphones. Rza's "Chambers" blow these out of the water.

  • Excerpt: This headphone looks great. That is all. The value is horrendous. [$]?!?! but sound like $100 headphones? Your paying for the name that is all i can say. Headphones: $100 Dr.Dre: [$]. The bass is o.k not over flooding like the solos. the mids are decent and the highs are a bit sharp to my ears. Soo Many other headphones you could buy for cheaper. Only get for looks and if you are rich!
  • Pros: Good looking
  • Cons: Poor Quality Sound, Tight on head, Too much bass, Value

There are better out there

music is life, pcrichard.com
29 January 2012
  • Excerpt: There is a difference between making noise and making music. The beats make a lot of noise but if you truly want good sound quality go with the Sennheiser HD 280 pro or the Sony MDR 7506. They are half the price too but lack the sound cancelling feature. However, Sony and Sennheiser also make sound cancelling headphones but I hesitate to recommend them without owning them.
  • Pros: Fashionable, Great Bass
  • Cons: Not durable, Poor Quality Sound, Sennheiser makes better, Sony makes better

Break too easily

SuitorQ the Audiophile, pcrichard.com
2 January 2012
  • Excerpt: When I bought the Pro's I was really happy, sure they were over priced, but whatever, a few months later and 2 breaks, heard the top of the band snap as well as one of the drivers started crackling then cut out completely, I wasn't so satisfied... My friend bought a pair of lesser know brand headphones and he let me try them, right away I realized how bad of a deal I got with the Beats. Sure they are cool looking and they pump out bass but the over all quality is bad.
  • Cons: Limited Features, Poor Quality Sound, Wears Over Time

The Earcups Are Too Shallow

Reggie, pcrichard.com
17 June 2011
  • Excerpt: I was severely let down with what I got for my [$].First off, the ear pocket is very, very shallow - much more shallow than the Studios. This results in the headphones being very uncomfortable to wear for any period of time. I found myself actually wanting to take the headphones off several times per album just to give my ears a rest, and I could never seem to get them to sit comfortably on my ears either.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Professional Features
  • Cons: Cost More Than It's Worth, Nothing Special, Uncomfortable

Just so so....

Cornstick, pcrichard.com
20 February 2011
  • Excerpt: I have always wondered what the BEATS line of phones sounded like. Well it was time to treat myself to a new set of cans. I have been looking for that magical replacement since my Aiwa X815 set broke 13 years ago. So I went for the top! Beats Pro! They are nice but don't have the sound that moves me. I like the bass that I don't hear, but rattles my skull! These don't give me that experience. I find it odd how Monster does not provide technical specs on these units.
  • Pros: Sturdy construction
  • Cons: Cheap storage case, Shallow sound
