  • Summary: Poor fit/comfort, very low volume. Pretty much useless when my treadmill is louder than my ipod.

Great for workouts!

Greg, J&R

  • Summary: I don't like plain ear buds because they fall out when I exercise and tend to make my ears sore after a while. These headset ear buds are the perfect answer. I've used a pair for years for myself and just got another pair for my wife. They stay in place very well and have no discomfort, even after extended use. The sound is quite adequate, even around noisy exercise machines.
  • Pros: Comfortable, Compact, Durable, Good Value, Great Sound, Lightweight
  • Cons: Wind noise

  • Summary: I bought these for my mom recently, because she can't stand ear-buds and has used this type of headphone set for almost 20 years. She is thrilled with them, and uses them for both her CD player and her ipod shuffle. They're not quite my cup of tea, but if she's happy, I'm happy.

  • Summary: I prefer using small lightweight earbuds with an attached headband while enjoying audio/video media on my computer (less fumbling than separate earbuds). I find this model of Maxell earbuds to have strong clear mid-tones and good treble, but anemic bass. On the bright side, this excludes the tedious 'low frequency booming' found coming from many other low price earbuds/headphones.

  • Summary: These headphones do not have a very rich or strong sound. Both bass and treble are weak and almost tinny. These will work fine for "background noise," situations, like at the poker table, where you are not too concerned with good fidelity. At less than $5.00 for a pair, what can you expect?

  • Summary: This product has two major flaws... 1) The headband is too flimsy to stay positioned and the earbuds will absolutely not stay in place 2) The sound quality is terrible... imagine trying to listen to music inside a waterfall... all white noise (A LOT of static from treble) and very little, if any, bass.

  • Summary: These headphones have no tension to keep them on your head. The earbuds fall out of my ears even when I'm just sitting still. There would be no way to use these when you are up walking around, unless maybe you could put a hat on overtop of these to keep them in place. Don't waste your money on these!

Handy-dandy little earphones

airolg, Beach Audio
14 June 2009
  • Summary: I plug my ears in in the morning and listen all day, mostly to public radio; less often to MP3. These handy little earphones don't last long, but they're so inexpensive I just buy a batch of them & toss them when they stop working.
  • Pros: Comfortable, Compact, Lightweight, Low-priced
  • Cons: Audio wires break easily, Flimsy Construction
