Maxell or Maxfail?

Brian S., Newegg
21 December 2013
  • Summary: For $7.99 you get what you pay for. The sound is so bad (low), they're really unusable. Spend $30-50 on some yurbuds instead and don't look back.
  • Pros: Fits nicely around ear. $7.99 is good price. Cord length is sufficient.
  • Cons: Color is black not white. Sounds are really really (did I say really?) muted.

pure garbage

Dustin F., Newegg
4 December 2013
  • Summary: if sound quality in headphones is not important then this cheap unit may be for you, but the last pair of generic headphones I bought from a dollar store were at least twice as powerful and better sounding than this maxell pair.
  • Pros: cheap, simple headphones if you really need a pair in a hurry
  • Cons: Owned these for less than a day and they are pure garbage. The headphones themselves work without issue, but the sound quality is terrible, muted and faded as if heard from a tunnel

Ear hooks bait-and-switch

J P., Newegg
22 August 2011
  • Summary: The photograph should at least resemble the actual thing being sold.
  • Pros: Sound actually comes out, and if you wear a headband or earmuffs to hold them in place, the sound quality is good.
  • Cons: Product looks nothing like the photo--has vestigial insulated wires instead of the comfy clips shown--so they hang away from and fall off of your ears. Getting enough volume to span the distance drains the battery.

Too Big

Danielle R., Newegg
27 January 2011
  • Summary: I was looking for something to use with my iPod that didn't go in my ear but wasn't an over the ear concept either. The problem with this set is that if I place the device over my ear the part where the sound comes out isn't near my ear canal - it's quite a bit below.
  • Pros: Great sound if you can get them to stay anywhere near your ear canal. Very comfortable to wear.
  • Cons: I think you need big ears to use these - I can't get them to stay over my ear and sit anywhere near my ear canal to actually hear the music.

  • Summary: First ,they are way to big for my ears. Second, the sound quality is not good at all. Third, after a couple months of using them they broke. I would recommend just spending a little more money and getting a better set of headphones.
