Summary: I've owned this headset for probably 4+ years. I think it was the second headset I ever bought for $20. For $20 it's worth it. For $40, I'd look at something else in the price range. Since then, I've moved on to Creative Fatal1ty (recommended), Razer Carcarias (comfortable), Audio-Technica ATH-M50 (fantastic), Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro (superb). The last two aren't headsets but headphones, I used a mic attached.
Pros: I bought these 4+ years ago as my second headset ever and it worked well for that short duration before I upgraded to something better. Gold plated jacks, folds up easily, comfortable, good oval ear cups. Now for the sound quality, I recommend these for customer service, vocal applications.
Cons: I DO NOT recommend these for music or gaming. They have no bass punch and the treble gets really piercing at high volumes. I would consider them "hollow" sounding. I haven't tested durability because they weren't put under much use. No in-line volume control or mute. No detachable mic.
Summary: The only reason that I haven't given this product 5 Eggs is because the microphone doesn't work right out of the package. I'm disappointed with the fact that I open the package and the microphone doesn't work, or works minimally. I've done some research and I can't seem to find a valid reason, aside from the mic being DOA.
Pros: Very good sound quality, not the the worst headphones I've ever owned, Nice long cord, Comfortable
Pros: They were a nice price and after reading many reviews I decided to get these over a pair of (another brand) which were fifteen dollars more. They worked very well for games, and ventrilo sounded crisp and clear. Others on vent said I came in clear as well. I have owned these for just about 8 months now.
Cons: I'm not rough with these at all. The wire at the point it leads into the headphones has shorted out. Sounds are still clear unless the wire gets touched or wiggled. This happened about 3 days ago. Also, after not being on ventrilo or skype for about 1 month, suddenly no one could hear me. No program had changed, and nothing with my sound manager would fix anything. The mic just went out without warning. This happened about 5 weeks ago, independently of and before the ...
Summary: They still work, and I will probably just cover the wires with tape or something for now, but I am still disappointed to have to do so this early on. 3 eggs because of the wire. Would have been 5 other than that.
Pros: Good quality sound. Maybe it's just because my last pair was pretty beat up and dying, but these are noticeably better. Comfortable. I am both a transcriptionist and a gamer, and sometimes wear headphones for 8-12 hours a day. They have yet to give me an ear/headache.
Cons: The wire was damaged in less than a week, it's as though someone took three copper threads and spray-painted them black. I've gotten it caught on my shoe and scraped it a couple times by accident, but all my previous headphones took far more abuse and never took any visible damage to the wiring. These were chipped with copper strands sticking out after a few days (at least, I noticed it after a few days).
Pros: Solid sound. Good dynamic range. Bass is strong. Blocks out ambient noise fairly well, even when not playing any sound.
Cons: The hinge broke after a year or so of normal use. If you look at the photo, you can see two screws above the earpiece. The plastic broke right across the top edge of those two screws. The headset is now useless.
Pros: Affordable, good ear coverage (the cups could be bigger), good mic pickup.
Cons: Cheap. I bought this set because it had a lifetime warranty at the time. I've had to make lots of use of it. I've had the sound just stop working or the ear cup bust off and have gone through about 7 replacements over about 4 years. It's nice to get new headsets so often, but I'd rather one that was of sturdier quality.
Summary: Avoid if possible... there are more reliable headsets out there for the price. I recently ordered some Turtle Beach X12's for 35 bucks at another popular online retailer (AmaXon). I know Turtle Beach is a very good headset maker, and I should've got them from the start, but I wanted to give Koss a chance since I love there headphones. I could return them I'm sure, but I'm not going to pay $15 shipping for a $25 refund.
Pros: Excellent headset in all catagories except... the microphone.
Cons: The microphone just stopped working out of nowhere... I treated them well, and it just quit on me about 2 weeks after I recieved them. Koss sure knows how to make good headphones, but not so good at microphones/headsets.
Summary: Much love to this wonderful company fast shipping reliable.
Pros: its comtorbale ok sound and CHEAP! from wonderful newegg!
Cons: It will break easy the wire is very thin and can rip with little tug mine hasnt yet though:) not good for games or music if you like definition crisp sound this is not for you newegg has lots of cheap other headsets to chose from!!
