  • Summary: While the $150 pricetag of these headphones may scare off many users, they truly will get what they pay for.  When other reviews I have read compare the $150 SR-125’s to the $300+ Sennheiser products, and the SR-125’s come out on top by a large margin, I think that in itself speaks volumes.  I know that with the headphones I have around here, and the Sony Reference series I have listened to, the Grados simply outclass the competition at this pricepoint.
  • Pros: Audiophile sound quality, Outstanding detail, Excellent soundstage, Music reproduction nearly flawless, Excellent DVD reproduction, Games acquire greater depth, Cheap for the quality delivered
  • Cons: Uncomfortable until broken in, Not terribly common in retail, Price may scare off some users

Grado SR125 Review

Digitaltrends
12 August 2003
  • Excerpt: The Grado SR125s provide the best rock, acoustic, and vocal quality we have heard, but suffer in most electronic categories.  Mild distortion was heard on the lower end, but the overall quality of the sound was great, including for gaming .  The overall design of these headphones cannot be ignored.  They lack in almost every category imaginable: comfort, material quality, adjustability, aesthetics, etc.
  • Pros: Crisp, punchy sound
  • Cons: Uncomfortable, unsightly, slip easily

Grado SR125

What Hi-Fi?
16 December 2006
  • Excerpt: Ah, Grado headphones: their unique ‘1930s radio operator' looks always divide opinion, but praise for their performance is typically universal. We last reviewed the SR125s back in 1999, and moaned about poor comfort: a subsequent change of ear-pad design means no such gripes this time. These headphones are fast, dynamic and dig up plenty of detail. Whether you listen to Shostakovich or Paul Simon, there's little else that communicates the music's message so well.
