Summary: Dear listeners. Don't fool yourself by trusting too much all those reviews of headphones which are put in this website. Many of them are simply are based on not careful listening, audio adjustment, and quite reckless judgement. I wonder how can one claim that Grado GS1000 sounds worse than many ordinary headphones while this particuar model won grand award among professional listeners? The sound of Grado GS1000 is incredibly pleasant and colorful. Bass is great.
Summary: Takes alot of running in , about 200hrs but worth the wait. Not the best looking headphone around and not the most comfortable on small heads but the sound quality is magnificent. At low volume these phones will amaze.I have been using these for 5 months and they are a vast improvement on the already impressive SR125.How much improvement is down to the oversize earcushion which creates a 'wall of sound' is debatable but if there is a better sounding phone outthere then i...
Summary: Until I bought my first pair of Grados, I found myself sending a lot of headphones back, including expensive cans from Bose and Shure. Louder is not necessarily better, especially if the signal separation is mud. It wasn't until I put on my first pair of Grados (SR80s) that I found the headphone equivalent of fine dining. Grado's open-air design may give new meaning to "goofy" but its crusade against resonance produces clarity that is just out of this world.
I have just acquired my first set of Grado GS1000's, at approximately 3-4 years old, these are the non-i version.
They have only had a claimed 15-25 hours use prior to my initial testing, these cans are not broken in, they will require 100-200 hours before properly warmed.
I shall start by saying that I am far from an audio or electrical engineer; I just know what I like and what I don’t.
Pros: Amazing Soundstage, Precise Imaging, Nothing Short Of Breath-taking
Summary: Well...initially with my Antique Sound Labs MG Head OTL Mark III with a Telefunken 12AX7 and a pair of very nice J/J EL84's in OTL mode I was lukewarm with these especially when comparing them to my Sennheiser HD-650's!!! The typical "in your face" GRADO sound is gone and what we have with the GS-1000 is pure fantastic NATURAL sound. NO embellishment of anything musical!!! Nothing!!! Everything sounds as it should. Reminds me of my NEW.... FANTASTIC.... ACCURATE.......
Summary: As a previous owner of the fantastic sounding! Grado RS1 I am amazed at the sound reproduction of the new Grado Flagship model the GS1000. Right out of the box the audio quality is superior to the RS1's. Great sonic detail!, great sense of musical spaciousness!, great instrumental layering!, fantastic bass response!.
