Summary: Simply amazing sound. Great for low volume listening as they follow the Fletcher-Munsen curve giving some added emphasis to the low end and high end. I also have Grado's SR-325 and they are great as well but with added emphasis on mids. Seems there are two kinds of headphone aficionados.
Pros: Comfortable, light weight, excellent sound.
Cons: Grado cords are thick and supple but they do annoy since they twist most of the time.
Summary: I've had the great privilege of owning both the GS1000e and PS1000e. Interesting that GooodCan says they prefer the sound of the GS1000e - after "loaning" - probably forever - the PS1000e, I had to decide whether to max my card on another pair or try the Statements, which some people seem to...
Pros: Lush but finely detailed, great transient attack without exaggeration, realistic bass and sweet but extended highs, harmonic verisimilitude, comfort, fantastic presence in a broad but natural soundstage. Matter of taste, but the wood and overall look are sculpturally beautiful.
Cons: Not good for isolation or public use. Who cares. I have noise-isolating phones that sound adequate if I need them, which is at times when I don't have my best front-end gear and I don't care about audiophile minutiae.
Summary: Made the Jump all the way from the Grado SR80. Always loved the sound. Now I still have the Grado sound but it is now presented with a much larger soundstage, greater levels of bass, and even greater clarity, presence, and precision. Excellent headphones. Very comfortable. Sort of a retro look.
Summary: Dear listeners. Don't fool yourself by trusting too much all those reviews of headphones which are put in this website. Many of them are simply are based on not careful listening, audio adjustment, and quite reckless judgement.
Summary: Until I bought my first pair of Grados, I found myself sending a lot of headphones back, including expensive cans from Bose and Shure. Louder is not necessarily better, especially if the signal separation is mud.
Summary: Well...initially with my Antique Sound Labs MG Head OTL Mark III with a Telefunken 12AX7 and a pair of very nice J/J EL84's in OTL mode I was lukewarm with these especially when comparing them to my Sennheiser HD-650's!!!
Summary: As a previous owner of the fantastic sounding! Grado RS1 I am amazed at the sound reproduction of the new Grado Flagship model the GS1000. Right out of the box the audio quality is superior to the RS1's. Great sonic detail!, great sense of musical spaciousness!, great instrumental layering!
