  • Summary: I was looking forward to reviewing these headphones, which were provided by Grado to headphonereviews.org. Grado's a big name in the industry, and i'd never heard anything by Grado before, so I was quite excited about the review. When they arrived I removed them from their very cool box and immediately plugged them into my iPod Touch - most users of portable headphones like this will be using an mp3 player, not a home sound system or amplifier.

Give me more Grado

Next Trac Mac from Albany, New York, Sonic Electronix
12 October 2010
  • Conclusion: Smooth, easy on the ears. Well balanced, with a nice transition from its upper end to the bass. I love how they managed to bring the warm, rich sound that Grado is notorious for, and put it in the in-ears. give me more Grado!!!!

  • Summary: I love the full size grado HF2 and older grado's but these do not sound good to my ears. Strident and uneven. These were not lovingly crafted or dialed in. There was no 'man' behind the tuning of these and this is evident in the final product. I'd love to see grado come out with a smooth yet dynamic sounding iem similar to the HF2 but am not holding my breath, especially when I've found the soundmagic e30 which satisfies my soul in that respect and for much less than a...

Great Sound... Maybe a bit to costly

vinnie vidi, B&H Photo
11 September 2009
  • Excerpt: I am a huge fan of the Etymotic ER4p's but have alway been looking for a set of IEC phones with a bit more warmth. I've tried the Shure SE530s and Westone 3s but found them both to be boxy and muddy for my tastes. The GR8's are really a great set of earphones if you appreciate the clarity of the Etymotic sound but have always wanted them to have a bit more heft in the lower registers.
  • Pros: Clean Lows, Clear highs, Lightweight, Solid Mids
  • Cons: Cost, No Case

Best I've ever owned: signature Grado, comfort, durability

hebrides, Amazon
6 April 2014
  • Summary: More thorough reviews of the sound can be found elsewhere (via Google). In short, you'll notice the similarity if you own a pair of Grado headphones, and if you don't, these are detailed, warm, exciting and dynamic. Comfort: With the right ear tips, these will fit snugly and comfortably for hours. The best tips depend on your preferences and ears. Foam Comply tips are popular and compatible with these, but they have a limited life because the foam degrades.

Best headphones I've ever used, bar none

  • Summary: These aren't cheap but I have used similarly priced and more expensive headphones and these are better overall. And the brand is as trusted as you can get with headphones.
