  • Summary: When my third pair of JVC HA-NC100s finally bit the dust and I found out they had been delisted I began a search for a replacement. Sadly, the NC100 were pretty unique with the retractable cord, there just wasn't anything to replace it.
  • Pros: Good sound with noise cancelling on.
  • Cons: Poor sound with noise cancelling off, build.

  • Summary: So I was lucky enough to get these very cheap from Play.com. They seem to be on there a lot of the time at around the £55 mark, compared to their RRP of £160, this is a real steal personally. I think that is something like around $85-90?
  • Pros: Very effective noise cancelling, good design, comfortable, fold down into hard case. Multi compatible cable.
  • Cons: Noise cancelling system sometimes hisses the in the left cup. Can get uncomfortable after a LONG time using them.

  • Summary: Goldring are a long established company who make headphones and phono cartridges. Originally German the company moved to the UK in 1933. The NS1000s have been consistently rated as one of the best NR headphones by What Hifi.
  • Pros: Dynamic and detailed sound. Portability. Work with NR on and off.
  • Cons: Large ears wont fit, short cable, creaking noise from head band, leak noise.

Great on airplanes

  • Summary: These headphones transformed the experience of my recent long haul flight. The noise cancelling seems to work pretty well for the low-frequency sounds you get in a plane, but less well for other noises, eg on the tube in London.

  • Summary: I'd been looking for a while at reviews of similar products and as only for use a couple of times a year whilst flying to holiday destination I couldn't justify Bose money. Therefore for a low cost alternative I found these do a great job.
  • Pros: great value for money , comfort
  • Cons: no cons yet after 2 uses

  • Summary: Bought these for my 13 year old son who is learning the drums and he loves them. Very good quality headphones. Allows him to put foam earplugs in his ears and the headphones on top due to the thick padding around the ears of the headphones.

  • Summary: Great pair of headphones - especially for the price. Noise reduction works well and the sound quality is excellent across different types of music, not too bass-y. Feel comfortable and the travel case is very sturdy. They are well made and look perfectly alright, not too flashy which I like.
  • Pros: everything
  • Cons: nothing

  • Summary: I do not commute with these headphones. They were solely used at home. I've had these for just over a year, and used them maybe two dozen times (tops!) for listening to music and playing games at my desk while my wife is watching the TV across the room.
  • Pros: sound quality
  • Cons: durability
