Focal Spirit Classic and Professional headphones review
28 June 2014
Conclusion: So why then, do I prefer the Spirit Professional headphones? Maybe as I age, I get choosier, or maybe I just to feel challenged. Whatever. All I can say is that I just kept reaching for the Professional when I wasn’t in testing mode.
Pros: Classic:, Almost perfect for most people, Warm sound, Rich looking, Very comfortable, Professional:, More accurate sounding than Classic, Industrial look, Tough build, Nice, long cords for both
Cons: Expensive, Pouches could be better for the money
Summary: I am apologizing beforehand, this is not a review but only praise for the Focal Spirit Professionals. Forget the B&W P7's, PSB M4U1's, Sennheiser Momentums, or as a matter of fact any portable headphones that are $300+ or below a thousand something dollars.
Pros: Soundstage, Speed, Refinement, Build quality (it's a tank), Isolation (awesome!), Bass, Midrange, Treble, BALANCE, Removable Cables, etc.
Cons: A bit heavy, a bit pricey but worth it, not the most detailed headphones
Focal Spirit One, Spirit Classic & Spirit Professional review
9 April 2014
Excerpt: Focal is one of the most powerful companies in the loudspeaker market, making mainly domestic hi-fi speakers and car audio components. Everything is produced in France under one roof, or rather several to be more precise.
Excerpt: French company Focal is well known in the hi-fi world and also for its studio monitors. It says that its new Spirit Professional headphones benefit from their 34 years manufacturing speaker drivers and loudspeakers.

On October 27th, 2013, I posted a question in the Sennheiser Amperior Appreciation Thread: (http://www.head-fi.org/t/612632/sennheiser-amperior-appreciation-thread/405#post_9926794)

First off, I do need to stress these sound excellent. Excellent clarity, great bass, fun and a neutralish sound that is enjoyable for long-term listening. I think they need a bit more treble but I can certainly see how many people think the treble is there in just the right amount.
Pros: Sound is exceptional. Detailed, great imaging, great bass and sounds as if it were close to neutral.
Cons: This is an on-ear headphone and not an over-ear headphone.
Summary: Hello everybody,
I have been waiting for this for a while now. The first headphone from Focal, the Spirit One impressed me very much with their unique sound.
From that moment on I was really curious to see what Focal will come up with next in the headphone department.
Pros: Fast and punchy bass, very good details, very good transients, good transparency, good soundstage, well built
Cons: Very good for studio use, but may get a little tiresome after a while for non professional use
Summary: The Spirit Professional mark Focal's entrance into the world of monitoring headphones. Don't let appearances mislead you, the sound delivered by this "Pro" model is very different than that of the Spirit One we tested a year ago.
Pros: Intelligible low end, Nice mids, Comfortable memory-foam ear cushions, Two different cables included, A very resistant outer shell, A discreet look, A meticulous manufacturing
Cons: You won't forget you have them on, The high end is a bit weak, Debatable wet effect finish
