Excerpt: Not long ago Playback published a two-part survey of six of today’s best noise-cancelling headphones. Issue 14 reviewed models from Audio Technica, Creative, and Dr. Dre/Monster Cable while Issue 15 covered models from Bose, Sennheiser, and Sony.
Summary: I'll keep this quick and sweet, because I wasn't planning to write review, but ended up doing it anyway.
Great set of noise cancelling headphones. Portable, single-sided detachbale cable, great carry case, folds well.
Dark bassy and smooth.
Pros: Detachable cable, noise cancelling, works with NC off, small and compact
Summary: Even at first glance, it can be glaringly obvious that Head-fi in general isn't a fan of Active Noise Canceling Cans, and there are valid reasons for this; for one, the active NC module is prone to creating noise and distortion in sound on its own, and for two, there simply aren't too many good ones...
Pros: Great noise cancelling ability, works without NC active, good sound (considering it's a NC can), comfortable, great value
Cons: Has typical active NC headphone limitations, and as such there will still be some compromise in SQ
