Summary: I first bought a pair of these in 2008 at full price (approx £90), and was very happy. Very happy until the day they were nicked along with my 160Gb iPod in a London pub. I've since graduated to the Sennheiser IE8, but at aprox £30, I've decided to replace the AH-C551 as a back up. £30 is a crazy price for these 'phones - they perform in the £100 arena!
Summary: Comes in a clam shell case which protect them when not in use. They act as sound deadening when in an airplane. You can hear all the dialogue if you are watching at in-flight movie - but you will need to by a 2 pin adaptor to use them.
Summary: I have had a set of these phones for a couple of years but stupidly left them on a flight last month. Managed to find them here for less than half I originally paid so very chuffed. Sound quality is very good with a sensible balance of bass and tebble and a clear frequency definition.
Summary: Hi Fellow Amazonians, Great service even though I had an issue with delivery from Amazon, this was sorted out excellently. As for the reseller, superb service and answered the couple of email queries I had straight away....so far so good :) As for the product, Superb value...and I really do mean superb value!!!! an absolute steal.
Summary: I don't know much about the finer points of audio but I do know what I like and these are not up to my personal preferred specifications. 1). They are way to bassy 2). The initial part of the lead is short. 3). The supplied tips were not comfortable 4). They are surprisingly solid, read heavy 5).
Summary: I have been looking for a new pair of in the ear phone for a few weeks now to use with my Ipod shuffle. I started searching for reviews for various Sennheiser and Philips phones. Every review was pretty good but there were always negative points about the quality of the ear piece, the lack of bass or way the cables become tangled too easily. Many of the reviews used the Denon 551 as a benchmark for quality of the hardware and quality of the sounds.
Summary: Bought to replace my third set of Shure E2Cs (which give great sound performance until they break). My second set of warranty replacements are in the process of dying and I am getting a bit hacked off with Shure. Since the E2Cs have been discontinued I wanted to try something altogether new. Enter the Denons.
Summary: Love them, perfect for anyone who listens to high bass music, makes the music fully enjoyable and they are very loud without every one else hearing what you listening to. Love them, best headphones I've ever had, better than Bose which started to crack due to loud bassy music but these can handle it.
Pros: I love how these headphone can handle my basey song on my ipod with out the anoying cracking
Cons: The black paint and denon name is starting to wear off the side of the headphones
