Summary: The Creative Aurvana Air ear-buds are well designed and brilliantly constructed. Their detailed, rich sound is an unexpected bonus, but their high price tag places them squarely in competition with some worthy competitors.
Pros: Attractive design for over-the-ear ear-buds, detailed and lively sound
Cons: Expensive, takes some effort to insert into the ear
Conclusion: Since launching the Aurvana Air have enjoyed a price drop from the RRP of £169, to £79.99, a price drop that shouldn't be ignored as it makes them much better value for money. The Aurvana Air are a good looking set of headphones with good balanced performance given their ear bud style. We feel that in-ear or over-the-ear headphones make the better option for audio quality and ultimately, the design won't suit everyone.
Pros: Elegant looks, good sound quality, comes with a carry case
Excerpt: Creative's Aurvana Air earphones are wince-inducingly expensive. Their buds rest just outside the ear canal, supported by hooks that go round the back of your ears. This sporty design should stop them falling out during serious activity. They don't keep out external noise, which makes them slightly safer than sound-isolating headphones to use while walking, and a good choice if you find in-ear headphones uncomfortable.
Summary: Creative’s past headphone efforts have left us cold. They’ve always seemed like me-too products with solid but uninspiring performance at mid-range prices. So it was with some trepidation that we approached the Aurvana Airs. From the word go, it’s clear they’re different. First, while Creatives of old looked like replica Sennheisers, these glossy designs are unique. And while they’re not the first ear-hook designs, they are the priciest we’ve seen.
