Summary: Like several others have commented, the build quality is really low. My use case: I don't have a surround sound setup for my PC, so I use one jack for my stereo speakers and two more for this headphone and mic. This thing never got unplugged from my computer once it was purchased, and the PC hardly ever moved except to clean a couple times a year. Needless to say, zero stress on the cables. As of November, just a few months past the warranty, the right speaker went out.
Summary: Do not buy these head phones. My head phones barely made it eight months before the wire on the speakers were lose and now one of the speakers doesn't work all the time. You have to move it around in order to get it to work correctly. I take excellent care of my electronics and always keep them in safe places. The wiring on these head phones are garbage.
Excerpt: This headset rocks, Corsair truly aimed for quality here as I wear these for hours on end with no comfort issues ever. The quality of sound is more then impressive. Dolby Digital 7.1 blew me away coming from a crappy TB headset.
Summary: After 3 month using this headset, now i can say they are dead, I take much care of my stuff and as I live alone no one damage it or did something wrong, but after a while only one ear can hears the sounds and if you go and move the cable on the botton of the left side sound comes and go acording as you move it and 3 days later it just stopped playing any sound, I was going to get the 5.1 corsair headset, but is the same cable support and IT IS BAD!
Summary: same thing here, the ear cup cable came loose after 5 MONTHES! now I'll never hear a thing unless if I move the cable like the 80's TV anntena, left and right until I get the signal! don't get yourself into this mess!
Summary: I must have bad luck with headsets. This is the SIXTH headset that has broken, I must have tried every major audio company, and they ALL have their problems. EVERY headset I've owned has had either poor sound quality, poor earpads, poor wiring, or poor structural integrity. And sometimes all at once. Bought in December 2011... Worked amazingly well, sturdy, comfortable it was perfect for me.
Not a good start for Corsair's first shot at headsets
9 December 2011
Summary: Well I went against my better judgement and went with a new contender in the headset playing field and purchased Corsair's HS1A. The Good: - The comfort is about what you would expect from any over ear headset. Fit's firmly and adjustable - Microphone quality is as expected, never heard any complaints about my mic quality The Bad: - No bass, it's not so much noticeable in games as much as it is in music.
Excerpt: This is a great headset. The sound quality is great and you can hear someone sneaking up behind you in game. The microphone is also great quality. You do not hear any background noise and even your breath is filtered out under most circumstances.
Summary: I loved this headset. I really did. Great drivers, great features, amazing sound/voice quality. However, I purchased it in September and it's January now (5 months) and the wire connection to ear cup is loose, playing sporadically. I take good care of my equipment so this is not an issue of care and maintenance.
Excerpt: They appear good and they are comfortable to wear. The memory foam ear cups is excellent. The sound was muffled, extremely small bass, very small of everything. I was actually hoping this would be the last headset I'd acquire for a though but regrettably I sent them back like two days immediately after I got them. They may well do much better with an amplifier but on my X-Fi Titanium they sounded bland and had no definition.
