Conclusion: The CM Storm Sonuz is a pretty impressive headset in a somewhat crowded price range. At $79.99 it is pretty midrange in terms of pricing for a gaming headset. The styling and comfort certainly caught my attention and the sound quality kept it. My quibbles were actually pretty small and far between. The audio/mic jacks weren't clearly labeled and no equalizer software was included.
Summary: The CM Storm Sonuz is a 2.0 stereo headset with great sound and powerful bass, suitable to those on a budget or users who don’t care about having a 5.1 surround sound model. The peripheral is huge and a bit clunky; it takes up a great deal of desktop space because it’s not bendable. However, the robust design doesn’t mean it’s uncomfortable; the ear rests easily inside the big ear cups. The microphone could have been more flexible.
Summary: CM Storm's Sonuz is a good headset for the price and is, for the casual FFA gamer, close to perfect with stock configurations. The sound stage is coherent and makes it quite easy to tell from where an enemy is coming. It is, in fact, better than the 5.1 ROCCAT Kave headset we tested a while ago. The bass is a bit over-emphasized with the stock foam inside the ear cups, and removing the foam brightens up the headset, allowing you to tweak the sound to your liking.
Pros: Comfortable, Durable design, Good price performance ratio, Tweakable tonality, Quality cable, Good sound stage coherency
Cons: Midrange does not sound that natural, Not the most neutral headset for competitive gaming, Ear pads slightly too shallow (tip of ear touches driver base)
There’s no denying that Cooler Master has created a solid headset. Oversized 53mm drivers, detachable mic, and gold plated 3.5mm headphone plugs provide the versatility to work on many devices. It is almost a perfect headset. I can overlook the spike at 1kHz, but the bit of discomfort after prolonged use is an issue. At an
MSRP of $69.99
, it is cheaper than most virtual surround headsets while still providing great audio quality.

Excerpt: 2 Flares 2 Flares × Headsets are an integral part of any gamers arsenal, and the competition has been fierce in 2012. CM Storm have already produced an impressive gaming headset the CM Storm Sirus 5.1 . It even seems the company have improved on a few things we didn’t like, as the new CM Storm Sonuz is said to be lightweight and features larger ear pads.
Summary: The CM Storm Sonuz headset has put in yet another excellent performance for CM Storm which makes it now three gold awards in a row for CM Storm products. The packaging was well designed and quite stylish and the headset was well protected from any damage or dust. The CM Storm Sonuz comes with its own unique design look and feel and seems to be very durable and well made which is always a good thing.
