The Brainwavz HM5 is a closed dynamic circumaural head-phone which appears to be a clone of the Fischer Audio FA-003. There is also another similar clone by Lindy. OEM/ODM manufacturer appears to be Yoga Electronics. Response from owners at the moment suggest that the HM5 / FA-003 / Lindy sound similar/same.
Pre-amble (about me)
I'm a 44 year old music lover. I don't say audiophile - just love my music.
Summary: At this price point you can't go wrong, very neutral and comfortable for extended period, slight criticism comes from the clamp, it's a touch harsh (I have a big head). I'm only 4 hours into using them so this could ease off over time. I like the fact that they do fully cover the ear, eradicating most of that nasty sweaty ear syndrome.
great headphones, with one rather annoying drawback
25 January 2014
Summary: these headphones are great, theyre comfy, the sound is crisp and clear, and their sound isolation is pretty good too. the sole drawback is their build quality, specifically the quality of the cables themselves. the 3.5mm jacks seem to be made out of play-doh, ive had £20 headphones that have taken more abuse than those things and worked just fine, but these bend from the slightest knock.
Summary: If you're after a neutral, detailed, yet still very natural sounding pair of headphones and don't want to spend upwards of £150 then I'd heavily recommend these, as I've not heard anything better up to and including that price. The fact that these sell for well under £100 is pretty amazing when you hear how they sound.
Summary: I've had them for almost a year. I had to precondition them because they were too tight at first, and they were hurting after a while. I've also had the right staff broken, and mp4nation mailed back the new piece without cost.
