Summary: MY PURPOSE WAS FOR BACKGROUND NOISE REDUCTION - TO BLOCK OUT, RUDE, NOISY, BABBLING CO-WORKERS. I BOUGHT VARIOUS OTHER CHEAPER PHONES - THAT WORKED OK.- BUT AFTER TRYING SOME OF MY BUDDIES QC15's - I BROKE DOWN AND SPENT THE BOSE $ - CRUTCHFIELD ACTUALLY HAS THEM ON SALE FOR $269 INSTEAD OF THE USUAL $300.
Pros: BACKGROUND NOISE REDUCTION - TO BLOCK OUT, RUDE NOISY BABBLING CO-WORKERS. HAS HI / LO INPUT SWITCH FOR USING WITH HIGH OUTPUT DEVICES - WORKS GREAT.
Summary: Overall, the quality is what I would expect from Bose. I mainly purchased these to help drown out the background noise when I work (usually from home office), which would include when I listen to teleconference calls (but works as a listen-only mode on office phone; despite mini-jack adapter to fit my landline phone, the microphone on the cord does not function in this type of set-up--and the sound comes out from only one earpiece).
Pros: Adjustable, overall very comfortable headset; easy to use/store; high-quality acoustics when listening to music, as one expects of a Bose product.
Cons: After an hour or so of wear though, the muffs do make my ears/surrounding head rather hot, somewhat sweaty under the cushion part (though obviously will depend on surrounding temperature--in summer here, my office is usually in mid-70's range).
Summary: I was very pleasantly surprised. I had never before owned _good_ high-fidelity headphones, much less noise-canceling 'phones. I was skeptical, but I took a chance because I trusted Crutchfield's guarantee. They sound wonderful -- better than I expected -- and the noise cancellation is very effective, again better than I expected. I have fastened my tiny iPod shuffle to the headband just above the left earphone, and fastened the cable such that nothing dangles.
Pros: Excellent sound quality (with equalization); very effective (good enough for me) noise cancellation; light weight; and requires just one AAA cell, which lasts a long time.
Cons: 1. It's not waterproof, so I can't wear it in the rain. Also, I fear that my oily salty sweat will ruin its nice cushions. 2. It is not designed for anything to be attached. I wish my iPod could be attached to it more easily and neatly. Also, I'd like to be able to attach a security cable to it, so it weren't so likely to be stolen if left it unattended for a little while.
Summary: When I first put these on and turned them on the noise from the ceiling fan disappeared. I was impressed. I put them on in a quiet place and I could hear a very slight electronic white noise. In the gym all the noise from treadmills and the like were eliminated. Now for the sounds I want to hear my iPod tunes. Not impressed. Not much better than Bose earbuds I had before. I was expecting a little more spacious sound than I got for an over the ear headphone.
