Top headphones for travel

MikeR, Crutchfield
24 April 2013
  • Summary: This is my second pair of these headphones (thanks, person who did not return the first pair when left on a flight!). I travel about 100K airmiles a year and these make the trip MUCH more bearable. The sound quality is good, the noise cancelling excellent (especially aircraft noise) and they are very comfortable over long periods.
  • Pros: Good build quality, sound and noise reduction.
  • Cons: Expensive compared to the competition, and will only work with a battery so keep a spare in the case.

Very nice. Sugguest to buy. A little expensive, deserve for longtime use.

  • Summary: Excellent Headphone. Feel some pressure at begining, but it is very easy to get used to. Good to use in noise classrooms and other public places. But don't use it on the street, partly for safety, and partly because I can feel my foot steps. Maybe that's because of the weight of the headphone or the quietness (then I can feel the movement of my foot).

Instant silence

Mark in cubeland, ABT Electronics
12 April 2013
  • Summary: The switch is amazing! Turn on the power, and the ability of the processor in these headphones to cut out ambient sound is mind blowing. Unfortunately, the silence to me was disconcerting. I focused on inner ear pressure. I felt low frequency energy sources like hvac, port terminal operations, and overhead jets. And there was no white noise to either validate or blunt it.
  • Pros: Comfortable, Compact, Lightweight, Stylish
  • Cons: Uncomfortable

10 hour flight test

BobB, Crutchfield
25 March 2013
  • Summary: They work well. What else do you need to know? The flight was from London to Houston sitting in the back behind the engines. Connected to an older iPod. Sometime late in the flight, I put these on my wife's ears (she normally uses ear buds). Her reaction was "I want a set of these". Comfortable for 10 hours continuous wearing. Like I said, they work well.
  • Pros: Noise reduction. Quietness. Easy to use. Music quality very good. Lightweight. Comfortable.
  • Cons: No "coolness" factor.

Bose QuietComfort Acoustic Noise Canceling headphones

ADBrownBear, Crutchfield
17 March 2013
  • Summary: Purchased for use on my CAT excavator and JD Tractor to provide ear protection and be able to hear the radio clearly at a reasonable volume. The Bose noise canceling ability is excellent, When you turn them on the rumble of the engine, even at wide open throttle, goes away! When not plugged in to the radio, there is no hiss - the world just gets quiet and my ears are safe!
  • Pros: Excellent noise canceling ability. Comfortable but slightly loose fit. Very sophisticated looking headphones.
  • Cons: Not as rugged as some others, slightly loose fit, Designed for the passenger compartment on a commercial airline. I would like slightly larger ear muffs but these work ok. They are more expensive that the Koss headphones which they replaced. Unfortunately, the Koss headphones didn't work. Two year warranty with some strings attached. A bit too expensive. They tend to "pop" with pressure changes in the cab when traveling over rough ground on the tractor.

Bose QC 15

Pat, ABT Electronics
14 March 2013
  • Summary: The sound quality and NC is superb (For the price range). I was about to purchase the Beats Executive, but the sound, comfort, and NC of the Bose QC15 headset convinced me. The build quality appears to be very poor, you cannot compare it to the Beats Executive. Being a college student, I plan on using this 4-8 hours a day and am a little worried about how long it will last. You just have to be careful with this headset and understand that you are paying for the...
  • Pros: Comfortable, Great Sound, Lightweight, Stylish

No noise, that's for sure

Roger, Crutchfield
14 March 2013
  • Summary: You can get better sound for $100 less. If you just want to listen to music, don't bother with these. However, if you want noise reduction, these do the job. I've used them on planes and trains, in bed with someone who snores really loud, etc. I've tried several other n-r phones, just as pricey, that don't do nearly as well. Also, while parts of this seem flimsy, I've slept with them and subjected them to a lot of strain, and no problems.
  • Pros: Noise reduction, well built, comfortable
  • Cons: Sound quality is not that great.
