Summary: Since there isn't any review on this can (T70-250ohm), I would like to share some user experience over here.
Audio rig: Laptop Foobar 2000-Wasapi output -> Centrance Dacport LX -> Govibe Peak Amp -> T70.
Mostly listen to: Vocals (Female over 70%), Tracks from 70s, 80s, 90s, A few rocks (Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, Queen, etc.), minor pop.
Self-rating audiophile level: 3/10 in terms of experience.
Summary: Great headphones with well recorded music.
With modern recordings mixed with plenty of high frequencies it just pierce your eardrum, but perfect with Chesky and similar well made recordings.
My trick to make them sound wonderful is reversing the pads, it is a bit uncomfortable (the hard part of the pad is on your skull) but the gain is so big that I am happy like this. (I couldn't find any suitable pads that gives the same mid/spaciousness effect.
Pros: Build quality, high resolution, balanced tone, great extension, wonderful bass, stellar comfort
Cons: Mids a bit recessed (with standard pads), highs slightly too strong, spaciousness not brilliant (with standard pads)
Summary: Beyer Dynamic T70 Barely a Beyer?
Beyer Dynamic discontinued the older premium DT770, although it’s still available here and there, but they’ve kept their PRO series DT770’s available and their MX series headsets which are essentially the same thing, and then release the T70 which looks just like the DT770 does actually, with small differences, as their newest closed back headphone offering short of going to the high end tesla.
Summary: I will not write a long description, but just some subjective facts.
I like them very much. I do have HD650 also, but when I want to be closer to music and see more truth in recordings I use T70. Lately they are my favourite headphones. Since about half a year. With good source the bass i sufficient and very precise, in fact very warm. Some phones may sound more relaxing but with the cost of losing too many details. Here detailing is brillant. They are exceptional.
Pros: Very airy, spacious, solid built, precise sound, comfort of use
Cons: Need very good amp and source, will be harsh in sound with many partable devices and computer sources. With bad recording - too bright and not relaxin
Summary: So ill keep this short, and ill relate this to the norwegian market.
I have both Sennheiser HD650 & HD700, my experience with both is awesome, therefore I had huge expectations to these as in Norway the T70
is in the same price range as the Sennheisers. Even with High-end headphone amp I feel i miss something, I were running them at 250Ohm, and the clarity was
great though it sounded so "surgical".
Summary: An amazing buy! The depth and detail are simply stunning, i was blown away. i expected them to be very good quality since they were this expensive, but the new level of entertainment from these headphones over my old ones is unbelievable!
Summary: Well, what can i say about these headphones. I did a lot of research before buying them. I've never spent this much money on a pair of headphones before, still not told my other half how much I paid, but now I've had them for a few months, I think they are fantastic. I upgraded my sound card in my computer, which can delivery 127db and I've run it at 80% on many occasions and never have these headphones distorted.
