Excerpt: I use these headphones at work and i love them! They are as light as a feather, very comfortable, and even know they are open back it isn't too loud for the office. (Our office isn't extremely quit though) If you are using them with just a normal 3.5mm input they don't have the power they need so they almost sound a little empty but plug these guys into an amp and they really rock.
Summary: Ok the DT990 Pro's get knocked a lot, personally I like them... they have much stronger bass compared to the DT880s, without having a completely insane amount of bass like the DT770's... it dosent have the details or resolution of the DT880's, but if you want the beyer sound, with more bass than the 880's without going to nutty bass land with the 770's the 990's are a good compromise...
Excerpt: I highly recommend these beautiful sounding headphones for anyone just wanting to enjoy the music. they sound great through a Pioneer Surround Amp, but sound superb if you run them through a tube headphone amp such as a "Little Dot", that can handle the relatively high impedance these run at. You won't be sorry.
Pros: Clear Sound, Comfortable, Durable, Great Value For Money, Lightweight
Excerpt: Got the 250~Ohms unit. OMG, where have you been all my life! Amp required, but being open back you probably wont be taking these out of the house anyhow. These are up there with the sound stage produced through electrostatic headphone system, such as the STAX units, a system many, many times the cost of these units. Well done Beyerdynamic. Now, go get some!
Excerpt: I read many reviews about sibilant highs and boomy lows, and I've got to say that I don't agree at all. These headphones are definitely V-shaped, but very balanced (not neutral) and no particular frequencies are over-exaggerated (at least for me), and they have great bass for open headphones (I do miss the sub-bass of my hd380s, but I don't expect that in open headphones and the sound quality more then makes up for it).
Pros: Clear Sound, Durable, Lightweight, Very comfortable
Excerpt: All the reviews i've read about DT990 Pro are true EXCEPT being boomy/bassy and harsh treble - for me at least. Of course, frequency perception varies from one person to another and headphones are, at the minimum, just as good as the source. For the build quality, sound performance, comfort and price, i'm giving this 5-star rating. I wish the cable is removable, but that's never been a deal-breaker for me. I can't speak of its durability yet, only time will tell.
Excerpt: My first open-back and they've been great. I use them at home so I don't care that they leak out sound. I especially love the earpads. The treble is a bit much but wasn't a deal breaker after the break in period.
Pros: Clear Sound, Durable, Easy To Use, Lightweight, Versatile
