Summary: After a break in period of 100hours, the DT880(2005) is the most balanced headphone I've used and owned in all registers - Low, mid, high. It reveals exceptional midrange detail with clarity and focus. The bass is realistic and ample, but with great damping characteristics. The highs are present without edginess or harshness. The unique feature of these headphones are the ability to convey spaciality and large soundstage without sacrificing much focus.
Summary: I'll echo the previous comment: Amazon.ca marketplace sellers must think that Canadians are idiots. Don't be an idiot. Buy from the US and have them shipped here. I bought these headphones from Amazon.com & even with shipping, they were cheaper than what you'll find here. A.com calls these headphones "neutral and clear", and I'd completely agree with that assessment. They're not warm, they're not bright, but (as the proverbial Goldilocks said) just right.
Summary: I own many pairs of headphones, among them several Sennheisers including HD650, Grado SR325is and AKG Q701. These are all fantastic headphones and I love them all in different ways; the Senns are laid-back and relaxing with crisp but non-aggressive highs, the Grados are forward, exciting and in-your-face with a smaller, more intimate soundstage, and the AKGs are detailed, airy and very neutral (which if I had to choose would be my preference overall).
Summary: Buy them on eBay... 279 with free shipping... Don't know why Canadian sellers always try to rip us off, don't they realize people do their homework before buying now? Don't they realize they would sell a heck of a lot more if they would be fair in their pricing??? 400$ for 270$ headphones... RIDICULOUS!! Should be ashamed of yourselves! They're AMAZING headphones.. But not made for pushing you iPods, these are studio cans.
Summary: I've read a few reviews of the DT880 and many of them mention a thin, narrow, or pinched quality to the bass. I was hugesly disappointed when I got mine to find this true. My in-ear Klipsch 'phones made a much better impact though less detail and rougher through the rest of the spectrum. BUT these Beyer's need running in. 3 months later its like a different pair of phones altogether. Where the recording instructs they deliver !
Pros: No colouration, perfect window on the original sound
Summary: Initially tried them via my regular hi-fi amp's headphone jack but they really struggled (this is the 250 Ohm version). Now use them with Lake People's G100 headphone amp and the sound is absolutely superb. Verdict: wonderfully comfortable, beautifully made, highly detailed neutral sound. Give your ears a treat!
Summary: I have been very pleased with the sound and comfort of these headphones. They are mainly used with a Little Dot Mk.3 amplifier, although they sound good whatever I've plugged them into- not tried mp3 players. The headphones sound a lot like LS3/5A speakers, but with better bass. Other reviews, I have read, have suggested that these headphones are bass deficient, I would not agree, I think they are just neutral. They are wonderful at showing up bad recordings. They are the...
