Beyerdynamic - DT 770 Pro are great headphones
9 September 2012
Excerpt: I am certainly not an audiophile, but after a couple of years of using these I am completely satisfied and they would be at the top of my list if I ever need to buy another pair of headphones. Sound seems very good, and construction is solid, if slightly unpolished. Comfort is outstanding, with Beyerdynamic's unique fuzzy ear-muffler design pillowing your ears, though they can get a little hot and damp when it's hot. The cord is lengthy with a durable connector.
Summary: I've only had a few hours to burn these in, but so far I am extremely impressed. As of now I have the FiiO E6 amp to drive them, and it pushes them better than I expected. Being that these are 250 Ohm there aren't many portable amps that can do these cans justice. They frequency range is what I'm most impressed with 5Hz-35000Hz. They provide bass if you want it, and it is pretty clean and tight. The mids are very enjoyable, and I believe the highs to be pretty good too.
Pros: Amazing sound stage for closed back, The frequency range on these is very impressive, they have great tight bass, clear mids, and pretty nice highs.
Summary: All I'm going to say is that in terms of audio professionals these are really a bargain and qualified for the job.
I know that many audiophiles prefer studio reference monitor-like headphones, but I can't make the excuse that these sound harsh when I'm mixing. They exposed flaws in my mixes the first time I reviewed a track with them.
Pros: Design, Comfort, Durability, Soundstage, Value, and they are great for mixing.
Cons: I hear these as too harsh without the extra power from an amplifier.
Summary: Set up for review:
IPOD Classic 6th gen
Electric Avenue PA2V2 amp
WAV Files only.
Brilliant sound from closed cans for the price
Build Quality is top notch
Sounds great with various genres (Funk, Soul, Jazz, Hip Hop)
Not a fan of the cable. Would prefer a straight cable
Need to know:
These really need an amp for portable use.
Summary: If you are like me and listen to a wide variety of music then look no further than the beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO. God bless the Germans. Top quality construction and sounds brilliant across a broad range of musical genres. Great price on Amazon to top it all off. Couldn't be happier.
Pros: Every type of music that comes out of these sounds very good. Period. Maybe not perfect, but it performs extremely well regardless.
Cons: Struggles with the very low and very high end of the frequency spectrum at times. Very rarely. Price if not on sale.
Summary: I had them for three years and the sound drivers are still impeachable. The best and most beautiful sound I have ever heard and the price is not high at all compared to trendy brands, To all of you who give two or less stars because of quietness: DO NOT BUY the 250 OHM version because most portable devices do not have enough power to drive the erm... drivers. Buy the 80 OHM version.
Summary: Just as the title says; the sound levels, middles and bass are natural to the song being played without any artificial bass - at times songs can be too sharp in terms of treble but that just shows it's the song and not the headphones - what you listen to is vanilla with these.
