  • Summary: These headphones are a tremendous value for lovers of full range sound with a neutral signature. Big thanks to Frank Doris at Audio Technica for the review sample! Great guy :)   [[SPOILER]]  The ATH-A700x is an efficient headphone that I've found to be great with practically every genre. However, these do rock incredibly well for me. I can honestly say that I can fully immerse myself in rock music with these headphones.
  • Pros: Soundstage, tonal balance, cable, comfort, pads
  • Cons: 'Wings' headband design, all plastic build

Audio-Technica Audiophile Headphone

hfhinwa, Overstock
2 May 2013
  • Summary: With so many choices in the headphone market available, something must set this pair apart as a good purchase. I would say that the ATH-A700X is consistently without disappointment. They embrace the reproduction of music. The music sounds as it should with deficits forgiven. The soundstage is wide enough to satisfy most listeners. Depth is fine. The mids are a little recessed. The bass is there and refined, but not boomy. This isn't a bassheads can.

I was sent the wrong model headphone

Triv, Amazon
21 August 2013
  • Summary: I would like to review these but the I received the open back version (ATH-AD700X) - in the end I had to order a pair elsewhere as Amazon could not send me the correct ones next day and couldn't guarantee that I wouldn't receive the wrong model again!

Wonderful Headphones

Mr. Gary Springate, Amazon
30 March 2012
  • Summary: Well having tried many headphones over the years (including Stax Electrostatics) I can honestly say that these are up there with the best! The bass is very well controlled, treble sweet and a descriptive midrange making them a very satisfying articulate listen. If you want a detailed presentation quite different to the current crop of designer headphones these might just be for you, give them a try, most good audio retailers will give you an audition.

Superb! Best deal on the net.

stefano, Amazon

  • Summary: This headphones are superb! Im a big fan of AT headphones and i had already two. The M50 and now this one. Has just arrived and im already impressed. Im no expert but ive tried few headphones, mainly Grado. The sound of Grado is amazing but are not closed back therefore not ideal for my music which is psychedelic trance. I wanted something similar but closed back so to give me more bass. I think ive found the ideal one.

Without question... outstanding headphones

Justin Keery "eljustinoid", Amazon
22 October 2011
  • Summary: It's just a joy to listen to music - any music - on these. Best sound I have heard for years through anything... speakers, headphones, whatever. The truth is I think these are better than my Stax electrostatics. And that's saying something. They're not for portable use - these are LARGE headphones. But they're very comfortable. Buy a pair and smile!

Perfection

Victor, Amazon
15 March 2011
  • Summary: This headphones sounds truly amazing. This is perfect sound in not so perfect housing. But as the headphones are all about sound I rate them 5 stars. The sound - if you are looking for something that will give you rich, selective sound, buy ATH-700. If you are looking for the ultimate sound experience and comfort - buy ATH-700.
