Conclusion: This is definitely my favorite. The sound is fairly balanced across a wide MHz spectrum. The mid-range is clear and the bass ample. I much preferred the 40mm driver AKG Q460 over the 50mm driver AKG K550 and over another 50 mm headphone I'm familiar with, the Sony MDR XB-800. It is fairly light and very comfortable to wear. They did not need a lot of power at source (i.e. battery) to sound good. I highly recommend them.
Summary: These headphones can be had for under $100ish new on Amazon. Can be found for far less, I paid $60 new.
I really like these headphones. I am not the best judge on sound quality though since the best headphones I have had are M50's. The other reviews I have read say they are a little bass heavy (which I can hear) but overall I like the sound since I enjoy bass.
Pros: Looks good, sounds good, comfortable, good deal.
Cons: SHORT CABLE IS STRAIGHT GARBAGE, umm ya the cable is really short.
Excerpt: I have owned the previous version of these head phones and for the size and portability they bring phenomenal sound to the table. Something I noticed when I first bought these headphones is that the cable coming out of the head phone might be a little short for some people. It is short enough that is doesn't dangle and get in the way but much taller people may have a problem especially if they wear there pants lower. Other than that they are great headphones.
Excerpt: My job is to listen to music while being mobile. The features here are unmatched. The sound quality is really good, out of the package the low mids are a bit colored, but barely at all in comparison to the other options out there, ive tried them all, and over time that rounds out (on pair #2 - only because i lost the first) the detachable cord is a plus along with the ability to take a phone call are key.
Excerpt: I have the "big" version the Q701s for pro audio and my son was looking for Beats. I convinced him to give the 460s a try and he loves them. For casual listening these phones are way more than adequate. I'm probably going to get a pair myself. B&H customer service is also top notch.
Pros: Comfortable, Compact, Good Bass, Good Value, Great Sound, Lightweight, Stylish
Excerpt: I found these headphones very useful when shooting on DSLR. They are lightweight and compact. Clear sound and blocks external noise quite well. I like that the cable isn't heavy so that lessens the strain on the plug. I would recommend these for this purpose, thats why i brought them.
Conclusion: Wow, I must say I disagree with "BASS's review". I have heard every Beats headphone on the market. The Studio's are a different style. Designed for Bass with an amplified driver and noise cancelling. The Pro, well they are excellent. But the Solo? You've got to be kidding me. Those Solo headphones are little puny attempts at a fashion statement at best. They are empty and sound lifeless on any type of recording worth listening to.
