"The best value in headphones. Period. These should be in your studio."

Summary: You see these cans everywhere. In the background of "The Art of Sixteen Bars." In the ending credits to "Bioshock: Infinite." Matt Stone and Trey Parker record South Park voices with these. There are certainly better cans out there, but they are marginally better for twice, three, four times the price, and the gains aren't worth it. If you're looking for quality cans, these are at the top of your list.
Summary: The AKG D 5 dynamic vocal microphone for lead and backing vocals delivers a powerful sound even on the noisiest stage. Its supercardioid polar pattern ensures maximum gain before feedback. The D 5 stands for a crisp sound that cuts through every mix. For the D 5, AKG employed the first microphone diaphragm ever whose thickness varies across its diameter.
Summary: The Akg D5 is an outstanding microphone. Par with the Sm58 and the Beta58a is one of the greatest microphones I have ever heard and experience. The only fault as with many microphones like this is, durability. Be careful and take care of it. It is not as durable and can break easily, unlike the sm58 or beta58. Never the less is it a great microphone and I am glad to have purchase it.
Summary: This is a very impressive microphone. AKG has done good. It does have condenser power in both live and recording situations and provides a powerful and accurate representation of your voice. Overall, a very solid microphone that won't let you down.
Summary: I've owned them all over the years Beyer, Sennheiser, Grabo, almost every model AKG has ever made, and the pair that shine above the rest, by far, are my 28 year old K-240 Studios. The good news is, they still make them and when I A/Bd the old set and a brand new set, they were almost identical.
One of the best microphones you've never heard about!

Summary: One of the best microphones you've never heard about. You can usually find these at reasonable prices $60.00 to $80.00 bucks on ebay. The AKG D-5 is just a smooth sounding dynamic vocal mic with lots of clarity and detail without any harshness. I have had great results using the D-5 with female vocalists who tend to break up in the high mids using a BETA 58 mic. Solid AKG construction.
