I received these headphones as a Christmas gift 8 months ago. I've been pretty careful with these headphones since I consider an $80 headphone expensive and I only used it at work in a noisy computer room. They seemed to do OK as far as noise cancelling is concerned but after about 2 months, the left channel went dead and it turned out to be a defective cable. A colleague of mine had the same headphones so I was able to swap the cables to diagnose the problem. Able Planet sent me a new cable with no charge. Four months later, June 2012, I noticed the right side of the headband had a crack in it. But I just slid the right side all the way into the top of the headband and extended the left side so that it would still fit on my head. Two more months passed, August 2012, and the left side of the band cracked. I contacted Able Planet, they told me to send them pictures of the cracks and they reviewed it aand they said that there was NO design defect and that the cracks were due to use and they were only going to give me a 50% credit towards the purchase of another one of their headphones. The headphones have a one year warranty but I guess cracking headbands due to use is not considered under warranty. They did not say "abuse" because they were well taken care of. So if you use these headphones 5 days/week, the bands will last about 6 months before they start cracking.

BTW, the colleague of mine that bought the same headphones had the same head band cracking problem after six months of use but he was lucky. He bought it at Costco and they gave him a full refund so he bought a Bose headphone instead.

In summary, if you use your headphones alot and if you don't want an $80 headphone only lasting about 6 months, I would stay away from Able Planet.
